I need to get an electric double pump that is portable since I'll be going back to work when she's about 3 or 4 mos old. I don't mind the expense if its necessary, but if I can find one that works great for less, that would of course be optimal.
I'm currently registered for the Avent - ISIS iQ Duo Electric Breast Pump, BPA Free
I'm wondering about the
The First Years - miPump Double Breast Pump
and the Playtex - Embrace Double Electric Breast Pump, BPA Free
as well as the Lansinoh BPA Free Double Electric Breast Pump
I know a lot of people recommend the Medela, but I've heard some things about the milk sticking in the tubing and causing a bacteria build-up so I'm trying to steer clear. The Avent seems to be the best after that, but I'm just not sure about the other three (Playtex, Lansinoh, and The First Years).
Thanks for your help!!
Re: Talk Breast Pumps to me(anyone, but moms of 2+ as well please!)
The Medela and the Lasinoh are the only pumps I have heard good things about. I have a Medela PIS and it worked great for pumping at work, in the car and just to have bottles on hand.
I know you said you've heard bad things about the Medela but I just had to put my two cents in. I used the Medela PIS for a long time and had one little problem. When I called the Medela company about the condensation build up in the tubing. They told me to first sterilize the tubing then after each use to leave the pump on (without the breast shields attached, just the tubing) and that dries the tubes out. It only took a minute or two. And what I liked was Advent sells an attachment for their bottles that fits the Medela PIS. I used this pump at work, in the car, and at home with great ease.
I hope you find a pump that works for you!

I used my Medela PISA for a year and never had a problem with milk in the tubing. I thought the pump worked great. I liked the black shoulder bag it came in, too. I carried it to the office for a year. We just weaned, so I'll be heading back to work after the holidays sans pump. What will I do with all my free time?
I used my Advent Isis for almost a year and it worked very well. I liked the feature that let me "prime" my breast and then it pumped away on its own at the same pace. I used to nurse on one side and pump at the same time on the other. (N had no interest in my left breast, so I had a "feeder" and a "pumper.") Very little tubing/travel from breast to bottle and it was so easy to use and clean. I am planning on using it again with this baby.
Good Luck!
