Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If you have a 12 month old...COME IN!!!

ds has been taking 1-2 short naps everyday the past week. I have never let him nap after 7 since he usually goes down around 9. He's been sttn since he was 5 weeks old up until tuesday night. He woke up at 4am ready to play! Then woke up this morning at 5:30! both times i pick him up and put him in the bed with me...of course he goes back to sleep and wakes up at his normal time 8am. I know I'm starting a bad habit by letting him sleep in our bed but Im desp. for a few more hours of sleep! ANY Suggestions on what I should do or try?? TIA!!!

  • I'd be interested to hear suggestions, as we do the same thing. I always bring DS into bed with us in the morning.

  • he goes to be wayyy too late.  try putting him down between 6-7.
  • DS wakes up between 3-5 some morning and when he does he gets a little milk and then I put him back in his crib. If he cries it is normally for less than 3 minutes and then he sleeps till 6:30. He just doesn't "sleep in" no matter what I do.

I also think he has a late bedtime.  DS is in bed and asleep by 7pm.

Eh, thats the time that hes been on since he was 5 weeks. We tried to gradually up it to 7 and it made everything 10x worse.
  • try an earlier bedtime and I'd go down to one nap.

  • You could try one nap if you don't want to put him down earlier. Some babies are early risers though so he might just be starting to wake up earlier, although 5 am is  way on the early side.  I think 8am is a bit unrealistic for a baby though. They don't understand the concept of sleeping in.
  • I also agree with the earlier bedtime! DS also STTN at 4 weeks, but his bedtime has gotten earlier and earlier... he goes 7:30pm- 7:00am with 2 naps during the day.

When your LO gets up early, does he cry and scream? Have you tried just leaving him in the crib? Sometimes DS will wake up at like 6, but he just babbles to himself and usually stays quiet till I go get him!

He never wakes up crying! He will pop up, start jumping up and down and laugh! He will do that as long as Ill let him!
