NBR-Has anyone seen Wicked AND read the book? (Please no spoilers!)

Im going to see Wicked this weekend and am about 1/2 way through the book. Should I read my a$$ off to finish it before the show or does it not really matter? Theres plenty of other things I could be doing with my time, but want to finish it if it will make the show better.

Please, no spoilers!

BFP 8/1/10, missed m/c, D&C 9/15/10.
BFP 1/8/11, chemical pregnancy.
BFP 3/4/11, measured behind all along, no more HB 4/18/11. D&C 4/29/11. HCG didn't drop, Repeat D&C 6/17/11; confirmed molar pregnancy 6/23/11.
Forced break, including two Hysteroscopies in October to remove retained tissue.
BFP 12/29/11! Betas @ 10 dpo = 85, 14 dpo= 498, 22 dpo = 7242
Heard HB 1/24/12. 144 bpm!

    Ooh, for Xmas I bought my mom tickets for us to see it when it comes to Richmond in March!  I can't wait! We are going on St. Patty's Day!

    Finish the book. It's dark and it will make you LOVE the play a million times more. To me, this is one of those cases where the book isn't better.

    I would say you don't have to but I would soon after you see it. There are parts that are different. I love both and I wish I was going with you

    Book =/= the musical. 

    Tooooootallly different, IMO.  The musical is not nearly as dark and brooding as the book.  I think you'll be fine.

    I have only seen the play and it was FABULOUS!!  But from what I have heard the book is much darker then the play.  The play while have dark undertones was for the most part very funny.  I don't think you have to finish the book to enjoy the play.

    Personally, I would finish the book before you went to see it. They're both great, but equally different in many ways.

    Honestly, I didn't think the book was that great.  You'll love the show either way.

    The show does not hold very true to the book. Both are excellent, but totally independent. ENJOY!!!

    I wouldn't rush to finish. The endings are completely different, and reading/seeing one won't spoil the other for you. Personally, I liked the book better than the show - but it's still a good show! (Just a reeeeeally good book :))
