Id say purchase things from the registry... thats how I wanted to word it to people too because I would have rather got stuff I needed and not 33,000 onesies...
yeah, that is pretty rude. they are gifts, so you don't ask people to only buy from the registry. they are asking you to only buy things from their registry. i would actually buy something else just to piss them off! lol!
You could always buy a ton of things not on the registry and say.. I don't understand why you made a registry if you were just going to tell people to buy off of it. LOL
I think it means they only want things listed on their registry.
Shoot, I hope not. This is the same person who for their wedding shower did not register but instead specifically requested gift cards to one store (and this info was on the shower invite.) Ugh....
I have always viewed other peoples registries and my own as a helpful guide not a request only list. I registered for things I really wanted, things I thought were cute, sometimes I just got a little gun happy. Point is I did not expect to get everything off my registry and to be honest some of my best gifts were never on my registry.
My point is that I think it is cute to say "please buy from our registry". For many people just adding your registry info to a shower card is a NO NO.
I buy people gifts that are and that are not on there registry. Sometimes I can not get them anything off their registry because I do not have the funds since all the small things were bought already.
to be honest, i wish i could have said the same thing on my invitation. i registered at BRU because there is one near by. but i got so much stuff that was really not practical from a million other stores. i returned it, but then only got store credit to that store. you can't really buy the tub you need from kohl's :-) maybe you can just get her a gift card if that's easier for you.

And that's what you should have done because that's what you do when you get gifts that you do not see yourself using. RETURN IT.
It's FREE money - I don't see how anybody thinks they have any right to biitch about FREE stuff that is not OWED to them for any reason.
People buy gifts for you at various times of your life because THEY want to. (wedding/baby/new home/etc)
Sorry - I hate this subject. People are just greedy when it comes down to it. Take the gift, say thank you and really mean it; even if you do return it for something different that you would rather have.
(BTW - this was not directed at you in particular - just a general vent about the subject)

no offense taken :-)
i do agree that people are greedy. i've seen people who are WAY too particular about the color/brand/make/model of things. i appreciate whatever people give me because times are tough for everyone. but i hate to see people spend money on things that aren't practical. my aunt gave me a newborn sleeveless sundress and DD was born march 3rd :-) but i ended up giving it to a friend of mine so it all worked out. :-)

Ditto

This...

This?
Oh and it also requests people buy the "protection plan" for large items.
I think you all are right.
