2nd Trimester

Maternity Bra Suggestions

Between week 13 and half way through week 14 my ribs and cup size has expanded and it's obvious that I need a new bra.

Any suggestions or brand and models? To give you an idea my bb's were 36DD before this last week. I assume I'm a 38DD or D.

Also, did anyone find around this time that your tenderness increased. It was mild in the first trimester and now I won't let my husband anywhere near them. LOL What can I do about it?

Lastly, do you get full really quick? During the meals I get full and then bloat. But only in my upper tummy (above bellybutton) because I have a pretty obvious baby bump that started this week from the bellybutton and below.

Re: Maternity Bra Suggestions

  • bravado bras.  Something like bravadobras.com

SO far I'm okay with a spanx no underwire for right now, but have my bravado bras from last time.

Yes it hurts and I just deal with it.  I'ts nothing like afte ryou have the baby.

  • I went and got fitted at 15 weeks for a new regular bra.  Next time I go I will get fitted for a nursing bra.

I do not recommend the bras at motherhood....they are cheap and for me (38DD pre preg and 38F/E now) we not enough support nor comfortable.  I def recommend going to a store that will fit you...either a small private place or Nordstroms.

    GL!

  • I agree with the "avoid Motherhood' thing.  My motherhood bra kinda collapses on the sides and flattens me in an old lady boob way.

I gave up and went to Victoria's Secret, got fitted and tried every full coverage bra they had.  There was one I liked.

I also think Nordstroms or a specialty lingerie shop would be a good idea to get a good fit.

  • I am actually still in my regular bras. They just stayed bigger after my first pregnancy and a year of breastfeeding! I thought they'd get smaller after BFing, but nope. So I'm still in my bigger bras I bought after son's 1st bday!

But during my pregnancy with him, it was sometime in the teen weeks I had to get new bras. I went ahead and bought the nursing bras since I thought I'd only need bigger bras during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I got the Target Liz Lange brand and liked them.

Also check out www.breakoutbras.com. I'm lucky enough that the store is in my hometown, but i've heard people talk about the site on these message boards. Their bras are great. Especially the ones that kind of look like sports bras. When you are really sore, they are great - very comfy. I hate sleeping in bras, but these were fine to sleep in. And when you are early breastfeeding, you need to sleep in one for comfort and leakage. You can call the store and they are super helpful. I had to call them for a bigger size when my milk came in. They were really helpful. Then I had to send my tiny B-cup sister there to get a huge G cup (yes, when your milk comes in, you get HUGE!)

  • I was going to ask this same question.  I feel the same about the motherhood bras as previous posters said.  I was trying on clothes there this weekend, so I tried on a bra and wore it while I tried on everything else and I wasn't happy with it.  They are really cheap and they just didn't seem to fit right in the cups.

I'm going to check out the suggestions from other posters.
