They broke my water and started the pitocin at 7:15 am. DS was born at 3:50 pm that afternoon. But I was already having mild contractions and was 3 cm, 90% effaced when I went in.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut
I was due May 24th. Labor started May 28th around 11:30 pm (contrax 10 minutes apart). I slept for awhile and woke up around 4:30am (contrax 5 minutes apart). Called midwife around 6:30am. Contrax got closer and steadier and stronger until (even laying down) until they were about 3-4 minutes apart about 11am. I took a walk hoping things would pick up. About half an hour after my walk all my contrax stopped! For the next 2 weeks! I would have about 3-4 hours of what felt like early labor (way different than my normal BH contrax) every few days. June 15th we went in for BPP and got membranes stripped about 5pm. Decided to do an induction about 8pm. Got 1 unit PIT at about 10:30pm. Got bumped to 2 PIT about 11:30pm. Dropped back down to 1 Unit about midnight. Water broke on it's own around 1:30am (up to this point I was having regular weak, BH like contrax and then things got a little more intense). About an hour later I had another splash of water. And I started feeling urge to push at 8 cm dilated at about 6am. About 7:10, I was fully dilated and 7:37 am baby was totally born. So I was either in labor for about 2 weeks or about 9 hours, if you count from when I got PIT, or about 6 if you count from water breakage and real contrax starting.
Re: For those of you who were induced...
i got to the hospital at noon on a sunday and ds was born at 3:13pm the following day.
EDIT: i stopped progressing at 8cm and ended up with a c/s.
22 hours, from the start of pitocin to the time the dr decided I needed a c/s.
geez, I feel like the freak!
I was induced very early for preeclampsia that turned into HELLP while I was in labor.
Saturday (March 21) they did cervadil overnight. Pit was started at 8 am on Sunday and she was born at 4:30.
for about 2840993 hours. i told you that already tho

1st baby, 4 hours start to finish.
2nd baby, 12 hours start to finish (not hard labor though, more like sit back, read a magazine, complain how bored I am, then pop out a kid).
ETA: they broke my water about 30 min before I gave birth.
DD#1 (41 weeks with GD) went in and started at 8 am - she was out by 1:45
DD#2 (39 weeks with GD) went in and started at 8 am - she was out by 2:40
I had no natural progression before induction.
This exactly!
