I hate when I go to the grocery store alone with my two young boys and there are no two-seater carts because they are all taken by mothers with one child.
I realize that there are not always going to be two-seaters available, but it bothers me when they are taken by people who don't need them. Do you realize how hard it is with two toddlers in a grocery store and nowhere to put both of them? Ugh...nightmare.
And that leads me to this...I don't think I'll ever be able to do anything by myself once this baby gets here ; )
Re: Here's my petty vent for tonight...
I don't think that's petty at all.
I got so irritated when I went Xmas shopping at Kohl's a few weeks back. I carried DS into the store, thinking I'd push him in one of their stroller/cart, but every last one was taken. If you've been to Kohls, you know that they have carts that are just push carts, with no child seat, or they have ones that have a stroller in the front.
So I started walking through the mob scene, carrying my 20-month-old son, and I see people with the stroller carts just filled up with stuff and no kids at all! I wanted to throat punch them. I realize it was a mob scene, but I thought that was crap!
That is pretty rude... I have never liked using them w/ my one DD b/c they are just so big and hard to manage. Also, b/c it should be reserved for those hauling around multiple little ones!
Oh my goodness... trying to grocery shop with 2 small children in a cart is hard enough, add to it a toddler to "teach" to walk next to a cart in a store filled with items they can grab while keeping a 15 mo old content in the cart would be next to impossible (if you actually expect to pick up more than 1 or 2 items.) I have 2 children 15 months apart (one 27 mo the other 1 year) and I find the task of grocery shopping (or any shopping), especially while pg the most difficult. I'm all for children getting exercise, but when you're dealing with 2 young children, there's a certain reality of the time and place and expectation to do it.
At all of the Kohls in my area there are less "no seat" carts than there are "seated" carts. If I need a cart and the only one available is a seated cart I am absolutely going to use it.
