All of a sudden refusing a bottle

LO has taken a bottle no problem since about a week old-we give her about 2-3 a week give or take and have always used Born Free bottles. Sat. night DH tried to feed her and she ate a tiny bit then started screaming. I thought maybe the milk was bad even though it had only been in the fridge a few days and smelled fine, so we tried again yesterday with milk I had pumped the day before and the same thing happened. After a few tries I nursed her and she was fine. She's had lots of gas issues so I'm wondering if she possibly has reflux and eating from the bottle made it worse? I just do0n't get why it's all of a sudden and I'm freaking out since I have to go back to work in a few weeks.

Re: All of a sudden refusing a bottle

  • My LO did that last week, 3 days before I went back to work.  We tried different flow speed nipples in the bottles that we had been using (Playtex vent air advanced) but he still wasn't happy.  We ended up switching to the bottles and nipples that came with my pump (EvenFlo) and he's happy again.  Still won't take the other bottles.  The nipple on the EvenFlo is shaped like a real nipple and he can really latch on it and suck it down to form fit his mouth.

  • Try a Breastflow bottle.  we were able to get DS to take bottles again by using this one, and then transitioned to playtex ventaire wide.
