DS likes to sit in his play gym and look at his toys and talk to them, but he still doesn't really seem to try to grab them or bat at them. He swings his arms around a lot in their general direction, but I can't tell if he's actually batting at them. He'll look at rattles, stuffed animals, etc., but rarely holds on to them when I practice him grasping them/shaking them. He held on to the winkle today and tried to stuff it in his mouth, but that's about it. Does this sound normal, or does he seem to be a little behind on those milestones?
Re: How much does your 3 month old "play" with toys?
Anthony doesn't either!! Oh, thank goodness ... I thought he was slightly behind as well. Even though I know every baby is different ... but I keep reading crap and then I saw another baby playing with toys in his carseat and asked how old he was and he was 3-mos. Maybe he was an older 3-month old or something.
DS waves his arms around, and occasionally wacks into something, but as for reaching and grabbing ... not so much.
My DS is 5 months and he pretty much likes his feet..LOL
Your DS is gorgeous!
Leo started hitting and batting at his playmat toys on his 3-month "birthday", which is the only reason I remember it. It took a few more weeks before he started reaching for things and grasping them.
Now he wants to have a hand in everything!
i was reading some of your blog earlier. Leos so cute and im SO sorry for your loss. i cried reading most of the posts.
sorry if i upset you at all. i really dont mean to.
DS just started grabbing and holding onto toys a week ago. Now he tries to grab everything.
Thank you!!! Yours is a cutie, too!
Aww, thank you! No, you didn't upset me at all, I like talking about my mom, it keeps me sane.
Your son is beautiful as well - that hair!! I love babies with a ton of hair. I'll have to check out your blog now!
Mine only started playing around 4 months. Before then he was doing what you described, but recently it's like a switch went on and all he wants to do is lay on his play mat and grab at things or shake his keys/winkle. And he stuffs everything into his mouth.
What's been great is he now can amuse himself on the play mat long enough for us to eat dinner together.
