We've pretty much decided to donate our baby's cord blood. I got all of my forms and the kit to bring with me to the hospital. Who else has donated/plan to? Just curious.
We donated. I just brought the box to the delivery room and they got everything ready beforehand. The cost/reward ratio wasn't sufficient to justify banking it for our own use, especially since there's a good chance we won't have another child.
We plan on donating the cord blood via a program in Houston that works directly with the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center here.
I have heard that the cord blood you donate will be used at the center within a week of donation - not sure if that fact is 100% accurate but, I do know that there is a huge need in this area for donations.
We did. I actually didn't even know that you could dontate it until I was pushing and the Dr came in and asked me. I just signed a form and that was it!
Finally after 15 months and 2 IUI's we have our gorgeous baby boy!
Born Nov. 13th @ 9:09am after 29 hours of labor!
6 lbs 1 oz 20 inches long
My little angel born Jan 9th, 2010 at 9:54pm after 25 hours of labor!
7lbs 4 oz 20 inches long
Re: Who has donated their baby's Cord Blood?
We did. I just needed to tell my OB and then everything was in the delivery room. It was crazy how many things were needed.
It is a good thing to do.
