if there were any of you that were low responders for IVF. How many good size follicles were you able to produce. My RE says that his guess is that I would be able to produce about 5, max.
Also, I have high FSH but I am 29 and am hoping the quality is good.
Any thoughts?'
TIA!!! And Congrats!
Re: I was just wondering...(IVF Success related)
IVF #1 = 6 eggs retrieved 5 fertilized
IVF#2 = 11 eggs retrieved, 6 fertilized
IVF#3 = 6 eggs retrieved, 4 fertilized.
Even though I had the most eggs with IVF#2, the quality on most of them were horrible. With IVF #3 we had the least amount fertilize but 3 out of the 4 were pretty close to perfect.
Do not focus on the numbers, even though it is hard seeing people with a dozen or more all the time. Numbers mean nothing. Quality is everything! Good luck!
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I did 4 IVF's. 1 was cancelled because I only made 2 follicles. The other times I got:
6 eggs (4 fertilized and were good)
4 eggs (3 fertilized and were good)
7 eggs (with 4 follicles- but only 2 grew initially and the other two caught up the day before the retrieval and was a total shock) 4 fertilized and grew
Out of the IVFs with 4 eggs and 7 eggs, I have 2 pregnancies. The quality of my eggs were good- even if the numbers weren't high. So keep telling that to yourself - it's not just about high numbers. 5 is plenty if the quality is good.
Good luck!
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
I have been a slow responder for both of my fresh cycles. IVF #1 5 follies, put back 1, 4 were frozen..FET #1 used 2 no more frozen, IVF #2 stimmed longer 10 days total ( I was still a slow responder also did Antagonist Protocal) had 12 total, 2 put back and 3 frozen..BFP!
GL!
I am a firm believe that response it all about finding the best protocol for your body.
I am DOR and a very poor responder. Here are my stats:
IVF #1 (long lupron protocol) - saw 5 follicles, retrieved 4 mature eggs
IVF #2 (antagonist protocol) - Saw 5 follicles, retrieved 7 mature eggs
The difference in the two cycles was my protocol and I really believe the Anatagonist protocol did the trick for me.
Thanks ladies!!!!
Oh and also I have high FSH, so I am scared about the quality but I am 29 so I hope that is a good thing!
At 29 you should not be too worried, I think you will be fine!
Thank you!!! Its just so hard to hear that at a younger age. We will see.
Thanks hon. I always appreciate your responses
I had the opposite problem my 1st 2 cycles. I produced 40+ follicles even after my stim levels were cut back significantly the 2nd round and both times my cycle was canceled due to risk of OHSS.
The 3rd round I was put on a VERY low doses, RE said he only expected 4 or 5 eggs, but I was hoping they would grow and we'd get a couple more. We ended up with 4 and I was worried, but of the 4, 3 were mature and fertilized. We did a 3DT and put the 2 best in. The 3rd was 10 cell vs. 8 on day 3, by day 6 it wasn't good enough to freeze. But the 2 they put back have both stuck so far, although I still worry!
7 sounds like a great number to me! Good luck!
