3rd Trimester

Anyone else have an anterior placenta?

I'm not feeling the baby move as much as I want, but I was told my my dr. that it's because of my placenta is between the baby and my uterine wall.  Anyone else have this issue?

Re: Anyone else have an anterior placenta?

  • Yes.  I am currently at 40w2d and I have an anterior placenta.  It has effected how much I have felt LO all along.  A lot.  I hope that my next child implants in a different spot so that I experience a pregnancy that doesn't have an anterior placenta.

  • Yes.  I tend to feel movement up under my sternum (his butt) and on my sides (elbows? knees? feet?), but not much in front by or below my belly buttin.
  • I have one too. I didn't start feeling anything until around week 26. Then I caught a cold and medicine that I was ok'd to take dull any sensation so I would stop taking it because I wanted to feel something. But I still wasn't feeling anything so at the next appt I got hooked up to a fetal monitor and had to sit there and push a button if I felt anything. Because of the AP and the movements are so light, my body got used to it and I wasn't noticing them as much. The same appt I had a blood test taken and found that I needed an iron supplement (this around week 28). Since then, movements have become more noticeable. Even right now, there is a lot of movement in the lower part of my belly. Most feeling is around the belly than in the center. In the morning, I do like to have a tall glass of orange juice, lean back and stare at my belly and watch it move. I might feel any movement in the center but at least I can watch it.
  • I did, but mine moved (or so said my 32 week u/s). But I didn't feel LO move until 24 weeks, and the doc said it was likely due to the placenta's location.
  • I felt first movement at 24 weeks and it's still very infrequent. I can't imagine getting to a point where I can time or count on movement.  I still use my doppler to put myself at ease!!
  • I do - I still don't feel much near my belly button but I can feel movement towards the top or bottom. I usually just watch the kicks for reassurance even when I can't feel them - my doctor said for kick counts any kick I can see counts as well as anything I can feel.
  • I do, but I feel (and see) tons of movement.  This is the only time I've been pregnant, so I don't know if I'd normally feel more, but these movements are really strong!  Like others have said, I feel it more all around my belly and less right in the center near my belly button.

  • with the twins, one placenta is anterior (I mean what other room is in there lol?)  the difference in what I feel is amazing.  sometimes it feels like the whole right side of my bump is quiet while the left is going nuts. I do feel a lot in the lower and higher regions of the side that is anterior, but not as much in the middle.  its just amazing to have both and be able to feel the difference all in one pregnancy.
  • I have one as well.

It took forever to feel kicks (I think I was around 24 weeks). The movement I feel is pretty good now, but this is my 1st pregnancy so I don't have anything to compare to.

I know LO's "pattern' pretty well and know when to expect movement. Most of his movement is up high around my ribs and sides. I can see his movements as well. I love to sit and watch the rolling across my belly.

  • I do too. I feel LO pretty consistently (usually on my left side), but have felt  nothing from the outside which is a major bummer. I wish my DH could actually feel the baby! Sad

  • I have an anterior placenta and didn't feel strong movement until about 21-22 weeks. DH is able to feel her from the outside, I am lucky in that aspect.  I feel her all day though below and above my belly button.  To the sides as well and see my belly move all the time.  I don't know if it is possible that my placenta moved and that is why I feel her so strongly every day.
