money and missing my baby while I'm at work... money becacusae we could make it on just DH's salary, but we'd be cutting it very close. We'd have no extra money for fun and we would have to scrape by, but it is doable. Missing my baby because I'm afraid I'll miss my baby too much. I don't want to only see my baby for an hour or so a day before she goes to bed.

I will be a partial SAHM. We made the decision that I would cut down to two 12 hour shifts per week. I'll be losing a third of my income, but it's worth it to us.

I have a friend whose mom did that when he was growing up. It worked out great for them!
I think the best of both worlds is having a job that can transition to part-time. If I had that option, it's probably what I would have done.
I'm a middle school teacher and can't work part time. I do have tenure, though, and with that I can take a year's leave of absence and have my same job back the following fall if I decide to return. Right now that is what we are planning on doing. It's sort of a trial-period of being a SAHM. If it doesn't work out financially or whatever, I can always go back and have the peace of mind it is a temporary situation. If it does work, then I can just not return, or return years down the road. Either way, I doubt I'll regret the time I spend with my baby.
I'm definitely working, it's just a matter of how much. Money is the main issue - we need me to bring in some income. However, I also love what I do and don't think I'd be happy completely giving it up. I'm hoping to work about 2-3 days/week.
The hardest part (for me) is handing my baby over to someone else 2 or 3 days a week. It's scary trying to find the right daycare...
I'm going back to work full time. I like what I do and it would be very difficult to get back into the field after a long leave - but the main reason is the money. My salary is our main source of income - we could live off of my salary alone but not DH's yet. He says his goal is to be in a position where I don't have to work -- of course that doesn't help once LO and any future siblings are in school or grown up. I'd want to stay home now if ever.
DH owns his own constr./remodeling company, which does well, but some months we cut it pretty close.
It's do-able on his salary but just barely, and we'd have to cut out a lot of things to make it work.
At the same time, it makes me sick and sad to pay someone else $950 a month to watch our baby, because its something I really want to do for the 1st year or so.
Re: Anyone not decided if they want to work or SAHM yet?
It's nice to have a choice. Some women do not.
I was planning on quitting closer to my EDD but due to a variety of reasons I left around 20 weeks.
I'm really hoping I made the right decision...but I think the only way to know is to try it out.

We are still un-decided on what to do.
