maternity clothes appropriate for work?

anyone have any advice about places to buy maternity clothes that are work-appropriate?  any advice on pieces to think about?  i have a very conservative, business work environment (suits some days, but not every day).  thanks!

  • I have had luck with a few dress pants from Target and some nice tops there as well as Kohls. Not to mention they are pretty afordable, especially on sale (kohls goes on sale all the time)

ETA you might still be able to wear a suit jacket you already have (if its just basic black and you get a pair of black pants) and just a nice top under it or something. Most of my old clothes/jackets still fit as long as it doesn't have to be buttoned or zipped Wink

  • Try pea in a pod or nordstrom, they were the only places I was able to find suits and other work appropriate clothing.
  • for me i have found a few great things at target and motherhood maternity...i have to hem most pants though since i am petite, but i have found great length jeans and work slacks at motherhood maternity...if you are 'normal' height or taller you should be able to find slacks at a lot of places...but i feel more comfortable in longer non-pregnancy tops and blouses than the 'tent' like feeling of most maternity shirts...GL:)
  • I am having a major problem finding things that work. I am going to use the jacket suggestion from above as long as I can. Motherhood and Target's pants are all too big for me.... I found a cute maternity suit at a local boutique.... and just about choked on the $160 tag.

  • I work in the financial sector so I have to be professional most of the time.  I've invested in nice dress pants from Gap and Motherhood, basic tops from Old Navy and Target and then I use/buy regular cardigans to layer over and only button the top button or two.  I'm also a big fan of dresses - so I've bought a bunch from Old Navy, Target and Kohls and then rress them up with cute shoes and jewelry.  GL.

  • I love my pair of work pants I got from Motherhood Maternity.  They are comfortable and way affordable (like $24).  I might just wear them when I'm not pregnant!  I love that store.
