we have the stepped ones and my kids don't climb on them, but I know that's not the case for others=)
Just a tip: those white ones have plastic sliders that the bins slide into. They just get pressed into the sides with some screws, but the sliders are always coming off from the holes they get pressed into. I hate them. We ended up getting these:
But for #3, I would not do (if possible) the two smaller bins along the top. I would just use all the same size bins (the bottom ones) in all three rows. Those top bins aren't going to hold anything sizeable!

The small bins are actually very useful for little things like plastic animals.
I have the wood ones with bins in all sizes and it is awesome.

They just have grooves the bins slidei into, much better!
DITTO! The first two seriously made me cringe --- then the 3rd one....ah, breath of fresh air! OCD much!?
