Unique boy name - honest feedback

Re: Unique boy name - honest feedback

  • Honestly, Trillion doesn't sound like a name to me. All I hear is the noun "trillion" as in 8 trillion dollars.

I'm not really a fan of the trend right now to name boys things that end in "on" or "an," so that might be why it isn't my style. It seems like all of the kids in pre-k have names that rhyme because of this trend (Hayden, Aiden, Jaiden, Carson, Larsen, Brogan, Madison, Addison, Payton, Layton, etc.).

  • That's not unique because it's actually a known name. I have three friends named Nadene.

  • Well when I was little it was unique and I actually have yet to meet another Nadene face to face :)  So maybe in about 30 years Trillian would be more popular haha :)

I have always liked my unique name - Nadene

Nadene is a pretty name. I have 2 aunts named Nadene/Nadine in my extended family! I just think that Trillion, being a noun, is much more "unique" than most unique names. I think that's what the previous poster was trying to point out (the one that mentioned Mike or Steve).

  • he will get teased. Don't do it...for his sake!

  • It would be a good name for a rapper.

I thought you were spelling it "Trillion." To me, these have two different pronounciations.

    Trillion = Trill-yun

    Trillian = Trill-ee-un

For what it's worth, I like Trillian much better than Trillion.

  • I appreciate unique names as well, however, this one - I just can't get down with. Anything that's mathematical or numerical like this makes me think of this one weird girl I went to elementary school with. Her name was Penny, so people used to call her "Penny-Nickel-Dime-Quarter."

I think the constant teasing only made her weirder.

In honor of Obama and his spending?

    I don't like it.

Good one! Lol! Trillion is NMS.
  • I don't like unique names in general, but particularly for boys.  I think the last thing you want to do is hinder your child's ability to become whatever it is he wants to be.  The best advice I received: ask yourself whether you think your child could be President of the United States with that name.  If not, don't pick that name.  Sadly, I don't think alot of names these days could pass that test.

  • I like unique names, but I really don't care too much for that name...   What about Tristan?  (sp?)
  • Not a fan. :-(

  • Maybe Trevillion? Trillion sounds like some kind of ghetto rapper superstar nickname. Also like something that your DS will surely be ridiculed for.

  • :/ What about using it as a middle name?

Otherwise, yeah.... it kind of sounds like a rapper name. [Aside from the fact that "trill" was slang for "cool" for a while.]

  • Yeah originally I put Trillion but somebody mentioned Trillian and I liked that much better and then it doesn't look like a number.  So if I do stick with this name I think I changed the spelling to

    Trillian

  • Ten TRILLION dollars...or I release the sharks with lasers on their heads.
  • This is not a name.

Really, think ahead 18-25 years. Do you think the name will be taken seriously on a college application, or a job application in a competitive environment?

Because girls can't be POTUS right?

Yeah, where is poster going with this? Because girls don't become important CEOs, doctors, and so forth? It's equally silly for a girl to be named Bambi or Six!

    So it goes.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever, ever heard on the Bump. And there are a lot of BSC people on here.

I didn't realize how sexist another woman could be.

  • Trillion, like the 1.3 trillion dollar national deficit when Bush left office?

    Ah, politics. I couldn't resist.

But seriously, OP, no. I'm sure you got the picture by now.

My main problem is that it reminds me of Trillian, the girl from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and does not sound masculine at all due to that connotation.

Where did you find Trillion and what do you like about it? Just asking out of genuine curiosity, because it IS unique.

this. exactly. though one of my favorite books - totally fem connection for me.

  • I prefer Bajillion. Has a nice ring to it.
