So, since my post earlier this morning, I have been looking online and found this place called StorkVision. I really only want a 2D u/s at the moment for some reassurance that all is well (no reason to think that anything is wrong at the moment)... Has anyone used this service & what was your experience?
Re: ATL Ladies or anyone that knows of StorkVision
I did not go to Stork vision, but I did go to a similar place called Baby Vision (off of Roswell Rd. in Sandy Springs). I had it recommended to me by a friend who used them...several of her co-workers had used them as well, so it made me feel good to know they were a legitimate place. We just went last week and did the 2D "what am I?" u/s. It was really great! They are running specials right now so it was only $60, and I think it was money well spent. The technician actually spent about half the time using 2D and half the time with the 3D. I think the 3D is a little creepy (at least at only 18 weeks), but it was actually pretty cool to see our little boy in there! My husband also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time too, so that was pretty neat. We got a printout of about 7 pictures and a CD as well. I would definitely recommend them, especially if you can get in on the specials they are running right now. I will say that it was a little tough to get in touch with someone there...plan to give it a day or so to talk to someone just in case...I think they are pretty busy, and the day we were there it was just the one technician running the place. She was super nice though and we didn't have to wait at all for our appointment!
I don't know specifically about StorkVision, but most places won't do one for "reassurance." These ultrasounds aren't intended to be medical, so you probably won't get any details about organ function, size, and whatnot.
That being said, they are well worth it, I would just ask them ahead of time exactly what they will tell you during the ultrasound so that you're not disappointed.
I went to the Stork Vision on Pharr Rd. for our 2D gender determination at 17wks4days. Shannan is amazing! She has crazy energy and is super sweet! She spent a lot of time with us pointing out things and answering questions. We didn't feel rushed at all. We left w/several images of our LO and a DVD of the entire session. I plan to go back to her when I'm ready for my 3D/4D around 32 weeks.
ps. She said it was a girl and she was right. At our Dec. 2nd ultrasound at the doctor's office, they confirmed girl.
They make it a point on the websites of all of those places that it is for "non-diagnostic purposes." That said, if you have no reason to think anything is wrong, then I think you will be reassured just by seeing your little one moving around on the screen. Of course they don't do any measurements or anything, but you will see and hear the heartbeat and I would think they would tell you if something seemed extremely out of the ordinary. I am always nervous before any appointment, but our little boy was stretching and yawning and moving around, and my nervousness went away immediately!
