I ask friends and family to pick up a book for me when they travel, if they are inclined. I pay them for it, but I like having a collection of books from different countries. So for I have some from Mexico, France, England, Greece and Italy.
I used to so now I have bits of things but I've tried to get rid of most of my collectible stuff. (I still have a grouping of 5 (one complete family) of Windstone hand carved Unicorns. A grouping of 4 Funny Porcelian Cows, a few wall masks in the back bedroom and a box of shot glasses and coffee cups from various states and countries people have given me, as well as a pile of stuffed animals from childhood in the back bedroom). Now the only think I collect is Recipes and kitchen gadgets but I do believe I am completely justified in that
I do have the complete collection of Emilie Loring books in soft back and half the collection in hardback that I refuse to part with.
DH collects movies, electronic gagdets and skulls and swords which is highly annoying. I've finally gotten him away from the skulls. I allow him to go hogwild at Halloween but I'm moving him away from having them around all the time.

my currently-reading shelf:
I (with my dad's help) have collected all of Erle Stanley Gardner's Perry mason crime novels. It took years of flea market and ebay collecting.
I otherwise try not to collect things.
