birth certificate and SS card

I filled out all the paperwork in the hospital but I never asked how long it takes.  How long until you got yours?  Did it come in the mail or do I need to do something/go somewhere to get them?

I delivered at GBMC if that matters.

    Ours took about a month to go both BC and SS card. It should both just come in the mail.

    oh wow, I just realized that we never did anything after leaving the hospital for ours!  They sent us the social pretty quickly, but we don't have the birth certificate...do I call the hospital?

    SS comes in the mail.

    Our BC came in the mail, but we were in PA for dd. I heard that some areas here in MD actually make you go to Health Department to pick up. Have friend in Howard County and she said that she never got hers in the mail, went to check on it and was advised that you have to pick up and pay $10 in person.

    I had to expedite mine for insurance but I ordered it online, I didn't have to go anywhere to pick it up.  I think it was $32 to have it overnighted.  And I googled MD Gov't to find the website.
