I am really freaked out. Last night I was sleeping on the couch. I have a bad cold and DH snores. Sometime after midnight, I heard my dogs growl. I didn't think much of it because they do that for any little noise (we live on a busy street). They all ran outside except Frankie (the gray dog in the picture below). He went up to me and put his head on my belly, like he was protecting me. I still didn't think much of it because this is pretty common in our house. A couple of minutes later they came back in and we all went back to sleep.
When we woke up; DH couldn't find his wallet, sunglasses, or his wedding ring. We looked everywhere. Then, two police cars pulled in front of our neighbors house. Turns out they were robbed too. The police officer found a bag of our neighbors jewelry down the street, as well as DH's sunglasses.
The scary part is that this guy came in our house when we were home. I was sleeping on the couch, and the wallet and ring were just a few feet away in the kitchen. Our dogs must have scared him away, or he probably would have taken more stuff. He took a bunch of our neighbors items.
We just found out that another house on our street was robbed as well. The police officer thinks he may know who did it, because he's arrested him in the past. We don't live in a bad area, so we kept our back door open for our dogs to go in and out. Now I'm worried the guy is going to come back. At least we're putting offers in on different houses so hopefully we'll get something soon!
Re: Someone broke into our house last night!
When I lived in a house, I ALWAYS kept the back door open rain/snow/sun for the dogs and cats to come and go as they pleased. I never gave it a second thought! Thats really scary, but I am glad you and your H are safe!
Wow, I'm glad you guys are okay. That could have turned out badly. Thankfully he didn't get anything else and like I said, you guys are okay.
Yeah. We never gave it a second thought either. My husband has lived in the house for years and never had a problem. Plus, we have four big dogs so we doubted anyone would have the balls to come in. Stupid us for thinking that!! Now, we're going to have to lock the dogs in the house at night.
That is SO scary. ?We had two men try to break in when I was home with DS one afternoon last spring. ?It was horrible.
I can't say this enough- an alarm system is worth EVERY penny. ?Even if you're in a "safe" area. ?Sadly, "safe" areas don't exist anymore- the police told us in this economy, people are desperate and stupid and nobody is safe from this. ?We had a system installed for $99 the day after our attempted break in and for $30/month, it's worth every single penny.?
