I had my first internal yesterday (which will be the only one before labor). It was not bad, I had some bleeding and cramping afterwards but the procedure itself did not hurt. My MW said I was 1 cm dilated, she told my I was not really effaced (did not give a %) and said she could feel the head. So my question is does anyone know the station she is refering to when she says she can feel the head?

Re: First Internal and Question
PP is right. It's just noteworthy that the baby is head down and hopefully unlikely to flip.
FWIW - With DS, I was 1 cm and 70% effaced at 36 weeks. When I went into labor at the start of 38 weeks (after my water broke) he was stil "wayyyy up there" and hadn't dropped at all but I still delivered vaginally so it doesn't really mean much. It's just a good thing that baby is head down.
