Re: Question from someone who is 33 weeks...are you back in your jeans?

  • Yes. I did it by giving birth and subsequently losing 40lbs in two weeks without any effort (go ahead and hate me, I don't know how it happened). I gained about 25lbs.

  • I gained 25 lbs and am back in my skinny jeans! I am still about 5 lbs heavier than before I got pregnant, but I think it is the boobs! I haven't done much exercise yet, besides yoga, but I move alot with baby in the moby, eat right and breastfeed!
  • yup.  i gained around 30 pounds.  i've done nothing but chase a toddler and nurse since 11/7.  ;)
  • Back in jeans, but I am wearing the Be Band cause they still have a little ways to go before I can zipper all the way up. I gained about thirty pounds and I think me breastfeeding was what helped. My uterus seemed to be way out there after birth, but I saw it go down really fast and within two weeks my jeans were fitting again almost completely.
  • I am.

    I gained 33, lost 27 of it.

  • Yes, I've been back in my jeans for over a month now... but I think I'm blessed with really good genes! I gained 20lbs during pregnancy, and when I saw my OB a month after giving birth for a checkup I was 5lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. I think it has a lot to do with breast feeding, and maybe having a VB instead of a C section. But I've also been trying to eat right, for both me and DD. Haven't done too much in the way of exercise other than taking DD and our dog for walks when it's not too cold out.

  • Well this is very encouraging!  It may take me a bit longer since I'm probably going to end up at 35 or 37 pounds weight gain...at 30 now.  My doctor says I have a lot of water weight though. Great job girls!
  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    ::catches breath::

  • Wow, I hate all you bi*ches Stick out tongue  I can fit into ONE pair of my jeans comfortably and the others I have muffin top or haven't dared try.  I started weight watchers this week though so hopefully soon I will be able to fit into them.  I gained 37 and have 14 pounds left to go to get to pp weight.  I am jealous of everyone of the pp's!!!
  • I gained 50 lbs. and was back in my jeans when DS was about 9 months old.

Don't expect to be in your jeans too soon pp. Its an unrealistic goal and it really isn't important in the big scheme of things. Do what you have to do to be healthy, take care of your baby, and you will get there eventually. If you focus too much on how your body looks PP, you will be very depressed.

  • You mean the jeans that DON'T have the stretchy belly? SH!T, they were buried so far back in my closet, I forgot they even existed..... I had a c-section, so I'm still pretty swollen and sore around the belly area. No regular jeans for me yet, even if I could fit in them (which there's not a chance in hell I could).
  • i was back in my jeans by about 2 weeks pp. I gained 29lbs and lost 17 or 18 by discharge, I'm about a pound or so lighter now. I've been FOD and didn't sit around I was up and moving within hours of giving birth. I am a firm believer that if you get up and move early on you are gonna drop more weight.

  • For the majority of us, "fitting back into our jeans" meant fitting back into our first pair of maternity jeans.

Ones with buttons are a far-off dream unless you go up a size or two....or four, as my case may be.

  • I'm in a size up b/c my hips spread.  I am under my pre=preg weight though.

    I gained 50lbs

  • F no I am not back into my pre-pg jeans.  I never got into my pre-pg jeans with my first kid. I started pg #2 10lb heavier.  I have a good 20lb to lose just to get to pre-pg weight for pg #2 and I'd like to lose an additional 25 on top of that.

  • I'm in my fat jeans but still my jeans. I can't wear my skinny jeans yet. I gained 34lbs and I still have 18lbs to lose. I am 3.5w PP.

Exactly.  It's not just about the weight you gain, which can be variables of water, fat, & baby.  For instance, I gained 56 lbs, but I'm only up 15 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight (which could be the same as someone who only gained 30 lbs).

& past that, it's far more than simple weight -- your body changes.  I can fit my pre-pg jeans up to my hips, but they are a good 6 inches from buttoning thanks to the "spare tire" that carrying a baby causes through fat deposits & complete lack of muscle tone.  & your hips spread, which can take months to return to normal (if ever).

I'm hoping this will be me in another couple weeks:) For now it's my size 26 & 27 fat jeans. bleh

  • HAhahah  Heck no, I'm not.  I was incredibly fit before I got pregnant.  I gained 50 lbs pregnant, and have lost 30 of it.  I'm at a normal weight, but don't fit back into those pre-preg jeans.  I hope to in a few months, but it's pretty dang hard when I still can't run 3-5 miles daily like I did before I was pregnant.

Dit-to.  I haven't even tried because there is just no way in hell.

  • I gained 20 lbs. and have lost 30. I'm back in my pre-preg jeans, but my body is completely different. My tummy is still a little saggy.

ETA: How did I do it? I have no clue. I stepped on the scale at 6 days PP and I had lost 30 lbs. I think it was a combination of water weight and BFing. I looked at pics on the day of my delivery and 6 days PP and I looked completely different. I was so swollen before!

  • I wish! I thought for sure that I would lose all the baby weight and be back in my pre-pg clothes right away, but no such luck. I gained a total of about 38lbs and so far i'm down about 20 I think (I don't own a scale so I haven't weighed myself since my 2 week pp docs visit). I ended up have an emergency c-section so working out is out of the question. I just went for my first walk with my husband, DD, and our dogs last night at almost 4 weeks pp. I think once i've healed a little more and i'm cleared to exercise the weight will come off quickly, but until then i'm stuck with this awful spare tire not to mention the fact that i had tiny hips before baby and at this point they haven't returned to their old size yet (I joke with DH that i look like a college girl that has been enjoying a few too many beers rather than someone who just had a baby).

I hope that you are one of the luck ones that is able to wear your pre-pg clothes right away, but don't count on it. I was counting on it and have ended up disappointed and feeling like a hot mess instead.

This.  I gained 40 lbs  - and have lost 35.  My body is completely different though.  Just FYI to the OP -  15 of those lbs I gained were in the last month of pregnancy - I don't think there is a way for your Dr. to really know how much weight you'll gain.

  • I gained 55lbs. I was underweight before I got pregnant. I've lost 23lbs,I'm hoping to lose at least 20 more. I am not sure I would fit into my prepreg jeans even if I lost more than all of the weight I gained. My weight has redistributed and my hips have spread, big time. It sucks but it is what it is. I still wear my maternity jeans and yoga/sweat pants. Everyone is different and pregnancy treats everyone's bodies differently.

Surprise We're talking euro sizes right? What I wouldn't give to fit into my size 27s.

I gained close to 40lbs and I have about 10 lbs left. My pre-preg jeans don't fit, still wearing my mat jeans which fall down and look stupid, but I refuse to buy jeans in a bigger size.

  • Not a chance.  I was very fit when I got pregnant (I'm a competitive runner).  I was a little under weight and I still only gained 23 lbs while pregnant.  LO weighed nearly 7 lbs.  When I got home from the hospital I had only lost like 2 lbs.  I don't even know how that was possible since I obviously lost the 6 something lbs from LO plus all the extra stuff like placeta, fluid, etc...

I've only lost about 10 of the pregnancy lbs and I am super soft for the first time in my life.  I'm already running 6 days a week again and I EBF but it hasn't made a dent in my flab.  At this point, it seems hopeless but I keep reminding myself that it has only been a couple months.

  • I'm shocked how many are back in their jeans!! (and totally jealous)

I honestly thought I would be by now.  I lost 20+ lbs right away (gained 30ish) and felt pretty hot.  However, now I'm working out 4 days a week and trying to eat lighter but those last pounds are so stubborn.

Also, my body is completely different.  I have never had a flabby tummy and now I can't believe how squishy it is.   My hips are wider too.

    Sigh.

  • I was labeled "underweight" before getting pg and  the baby was measuring small the Dr. really pushed me to gain more weight, so I gained 45 pounds!

I have lost 30 pounds so far but I don't think I will ever get back into my skinny jeans. My hips have definitely spread and who knows if it will ever go back. I used to buy size jeans the juniors department and I don't think that will ever be the case again :(

  • I can zip them, but they aren't comfortable. Unless muffin top is the new fashion, I should probably leave my old jeans packed up.

I gained 39 pounds and was back to my PP weight in 2 weeks. The # is the same, my body is not. Flabby belly, wider hips... Now I have to lose the weight I was trying to ditch before I got pregnant.

I'm still wearing my jeans from 1st tri with the forgiving waistband. They are a little saggy, but better saggy butt than sausage legs, IMHO.  I may never go back to real jeans. Smile

  • Yes.  I gained 25 pounds and wore non-maternity jeans yesterday at almost 2 weeks postpartum.

I will say though that after my first, even after losing all the weight I had gained some pants never fit me again because I was just shaped differently. I just used it as an excuse to go shopping.  Smile

  • I'm back in my jeans. Was back in one pair a few weeks PP, and I've just gotten back into the tighter pairs. I gained 35 lbs. with my pregnancy and I'm now down 36 lbs. My body is definitely different, but my jeans fit! I'm breastfeeding - that's definitely what helped me lose the weight, as I haven't worked out much yet, nor am I eating any less!

Seriously...I'm with you Blair.  I gained 34lbs and am only down 17.  I'm still wearing my maternity pants with a BeBand to help hold them up.  And I am breastfeeding too!  Seriously, let's not gloat and make it seem like everyone loses the weight so quickly.  Yesterday I actually had time to work out for the first time, that is if you don't count wearing DD in a sling while vacuuming.

If I seem bitter, it is because I am!I still look like I'm pregnant and hide under a sweatshirt when I got out without DD b/c I don't want to get the...when are you due question.
