PG with twins + potty training toddler

My daughter will turn 3 shortly after her sisters are born in Feb/March.  She has been completely potty trained since August, except for Pull-Ups at night. I stop working next week, and would love to get her out of the Pull-Ups at night now that I'll have more time for laundry.  But I'm worried that when the babies come and are crying at night, my daughter will wake up and just pee her bed. Any advice? Should I take the chance she'll do fine and just do it? Or, just wait until the babies sleep through the night?

 Thanks!

Re: PG with twins + potty training toddler

  • you could try it- but do know that she might regress totally after they are born - it happens a lot - she might even regress during the day a bit, too... or she might do great- you'll never know- but it can't hurt to try.

We had NO plans to PT my son before the twins were born - but he started asking to go - and his daycare was working on PT with him - he was doing great- and then not too long after the babies were born he stopped wanting to go- and now wants NOTHING to do with the potty - so we're going to hold off until he's 3 and try again.

  • KJ was fully pee trained (not quite poop trained) before S&W were born.  He stopped going poop on the potty all together once the babies were born.

  • To give you a happy story instead of a horror story (even though I've heard regression is completely normal), my daughter potty trained right at the time the twins were born (she turned 2 the 8th of August, they were born the 20th of August - so a young PTer) and we have not had a single regression.  Big girls go potty, babies use a diaper.  It worked for us, if you have the time and the energy I say go for getting her out of pull ups at night!

  • My dd was potty trained before the twins came and did have some regression but its was 5 pee accidents and then she was back to normal. Not worth waiting to finish training. I say go for it now. Also, no accident was due to be woken by a crying baby.

  • My DD was 3 when my twins were born;  she was potty trained for about 6 months prior.  She has never regressed.  I just took away the pull up last night as a matter of fact;  she has woken up with a dry pull up for 2weeks in a row now. SO , my advice is to take the pull up away when she is able to STTN dry for 2 weeks straight!  Regardless of the babies'!
