Belly Rings - Do/did you have one before all this??

I just took out my belly ring, that I had since 2001. My memory piece from Daytona Beach - lol. Its illegal in parts of FL or all of FL piercing business at that time.

Have you taken yours out, does it heal fast, and what does your hole look like? Or did/have you kept yours in?

Side note: My tramp stamp (lower back tattoo) hoping it doesnt stretch when I develop.

  • I took mine out and the hole is still there...not sure if it ever goes away? I took mine out 3 years ago...its not as noticeable though

  • I am not sure if I will take mine out.  I may just get one of those jelly rings to put in it.

As for the tattoo, I heard the tramp stamps wont stretch, which is good.  I would hate to see my butterfly any bigger than it is.  I, however, have a tat down my left side and one to the upper right of my vag.  They will look mighty interesting at the end of all this.

  • I've had mine in for 16 years....I am planning on taking it out....just haven't done it yet.

I'm anticipating it to get ugly, but am hoping for the best.

  • I took mine out a year or so ago, and it's healed nicely.  The hole didn't go away, but it looks small and barely noticeable now.

I did get a tattoo just days before conciving though, right on my hip line.  I am SO hoping that it won't get all stretched out and ugly!!

  • I took mine out a couple of weeks ago and my belly looks so "naked."

  • I had one for about 9 years and took it out like 8 months ago.  I still have a very obvious hole.

  • I've still got mine in.  I'm thinking I'll leave it and when the time comes I'll get one of the rubbery type rings.  I've had it for about 12 years so I don't think the hole will ever close up though anyway.  I'm more worried about the hole stretching!

  • Oh wow! Some didn't heal, and still have a hole OMG. Maybe I'll put it back in for awhile longer wait for the BFP, I miss it already, I'll wait till the Dr. says something about it whenever THAT day comes...

    Thanks

  • I got mine when I was 16 and haven't worn anything in it since 19 and I'm now almost 24. The hole never goes away... and during my first pregnancy that is where I got my first stretch mark. My only other one was where I had a scar and it's not noticeable by anyone but me. If I could go back, I would have never gotten mine pierced. It doesn't look horrible now, but it's not pretty either. Same thing happened to a friend of mine.

  • I took mine out a couple weeks ago. I highly doubt it'll close, I've had it for ten years.
  • I got mine pierced when i was 17, I'm 24 now.  I lost the top of my bar about a year ago and never put a new one on because it stayed in.  Last night - it just fell out - and I put it back in and it slid back out.  I'm 10 weeks and my belly is pushing out a tiny bit and now it just won't stay in.  I hate they way my stomach looks without it. :(
  • I took mine out during my first pregnancy, probably around 15ish weeks. My friend left hers in for a long time during her first pregnancy and it got so nasty looking, so thats why I took mine out before I really started to show.

  • I would feel naked with out it....i'm hoping i don't have to take it out at all thru the preg...but we will see..
  • I don't have one but my sister did.  I don't remember what it looked like with pg#1, but with #2 it had turned into an inch long slit by 7 months - not pretty at all.
  • I got my belly ring back in 1998. I just took it out last week - after having it there for all that time, my tummy now looks foreign!
  • I took mine out in 2006, got it in 2004, and the hole is still there. Actually, now it is more of an oval/line because my belly stretched it out. :)
  • I left mine in with DD and bought a pg belly ring. I don't know what I'm going to do this time. I feel like I'm getting too old for a belly ring.

  • I had mine in like, 99, took it out after a couple of years because it was constantly heinouisly infected and it never healed. It left scars both right above and inside my bellybutton. As I expand, the scar above is getting further and further away and the inside one is moving closer and closer to the outside. I cannot imagine what that would look like with any kind of ring or bar still in it!

  • I took mine out during my first pregnancy. It was starting to run against my belly and hurt. I put it back in a while after dd was born, but it just looked stupid since my stomach was no longer in the shape it had been.

I still have the hole there but it's a little bit less noticeable than it used to be.

  • Mine has been out for 7-8 years... and the hole is still very visible.  It doesn't bother me... or it didn't until I read about it stretching into an oval in PP.  :)

This: same age of in and same age as out. My sister said that is where she had her first ones too...I am counting on them there as well.

  • So the end result is an opoen hole. GREAT? As long as it doesnt get infected I'm ok. But I dont want to be that mom on the beach in bikni, that kids point at - saying "Mommy what's wrong with her stomach?" Thank God for Tankini's.

    This.
  • Kind of a gross story :)  I took mine out at my 20wk ultrasound w/DD#1.  There was a hole (obviously) but it never looked too weird or anything afterwards. Fast fwd to pg#2.  I was probably about halfway through my pg when all of a sudden where the hole had been starts getting really sore & has a rash.  Then it started 'weeping'. It got worse & worse so I went to my primary care doc & I had developed some kind of infection.  I got some antibiotics & all was well.  It was just so strange that all of a sudden- like 2+ years after it came out it got all nasty.  I hadn't remembered all that until I saw this post!
