  Sorry you're so scared...  Are you having it to check for fetal lung development?  I have mine scheduled for 1/20 - and they won't let me leave 'till I have the results.  If he's "mature" - they will section me that day - so I won't have to leave.

  Why are you having it & why will they let you leave?

  I've had two of them. Don't be scared. They are not even as painful as a blood draw. I hate needles and it was so neat to watch that I observed the whole thing.  The baby will be fine - my peri has seen the baby grab the needle before and nothing comes of it.

  Yes it's for lung maturity. I have a c-section on Monday the 21st. My doc says he has to do a amnio because it's required by the board of OB if having a c-section before 39 weeks. I have b/p issues and tons of symptoms to go with it! Also some PTL and had a positive ffn at 31 weeks. I had the set of 2 steroid shots then so doc says baby will be fine by 36 weeks.

  Thanks! Lung maturity dust to you too!!!!!!!  I actually just got back from the hospital. It was not bad I'm all crampy/contracty like right now. He said that's normal. Just watch for leaking fluid or stonger regular contractions and to make sure baby keeps moving! I will know in a few hours how her lungs are. They have to send it with a courrier (sp?) to a lab to find out results.
