Like some of the others, when I hear the term a "strong" name, I think of classic name like James, Ben, Thomas, Samuel, Patrick, Paul, Christopher, Luke, etc.
I think some people hear that term and think of names that sound like a man with big muscles (like Thor, Rocco, Bruno, or Duke).
When I think "strong," I think of very traditional, no-nonsense type names.
That's what I think of too.
To an extent I agree with this. Mostly though, when I think of strong names, I think of "warrior" names. Names of strong historical figures, or names that actually mean warrior. Some of those names are very traditional, but a lot of them are quite unique: https://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/warrior

I guess I'm with the majority here... I think fairly traditional, non-stuffy, and versatile. Something that is also a bit masculine sounding, not over-the-top macho, but has a undisputable boyishness to it.
Yo me:
Strong=Andrew, Matthew, Anthony, William, Luke, Brandon, Tyler, Joshua, Russell, Eric, Isaac, Nathaniel, Zachary, Peter ... (pretty much all of the SSA top ten)
Not Strong IMHO: Jayden, Randy, Melvin, Gerald, Ryder, Beau, Dorian
I always thought that DS's name, Alexander Robert, was a very strong name! Not that I'm biased !
I think so too. DH wants to use Alexander as either a first or middle name, mostly because he feels it's such a good strong name. DH also thinks it's funny because the family teasingly calls him "Ivan the Terrible", so then we could have an "Alexander the Great", too. Haha

That's why our boy is Charles Henry.
That's what I think of too.
This. I think of hard consonants (Grant) and no trendy "_lee's and _den's"

Now I want a burger
I do agree with names like Charles, Thomas, Daniel, John, etc sounding "strong".

Names like Edward, David, Mark and Troy are strong-sounding to me.
