Anyone else with major shortness of breath?

How do you cope? Mine just started a couple of days ago, and I feel lightheaded and spacey even sitting down. It was scary to go to sleep last night.

Re: Anyone else with major shortness of breath?

  • If you're struggling while you're just sitting, maybe consider calling your OB?

I can't lay on my back, and I get out of breath a lot faster doing any sort of physical activity.. but unless I'm having a hot flash of some sort, I'm ok when I'm sitting on my butt.

  • I am. I'm just sitting at my desk and I'm having trouble getting a full breath in.

I lean back in my chair and concentrate on in-and-out deep breaths.

  • I'm a little spacey when I climb stairs. If I end up on my back at night I wake up gasping, which is scary. I don't know of any ways to deal with it so I just try to be concious of it.

  • Your blood could be low in iron. It's worth bringing up to your doctor at your next appointment.

  • Yes, my ob told me it was completely normal. In fact, there is a name for it (which escapes me), but it is normal. Mine usually lasts a couple days and then I'm fine again. Hopefully you are able to catch your breath soon!

  • If your  breath gets short will sitting try standing up for a minute or so, this usually works for me
