DH's Brother and Sister-in-Law have a young toddler and they have a gorgeous crib (in pictures, anyway) that they offered to give to us.
We said sure! Well, I'm now 33 weeks pregnant. We asked about it three weeks ago after they had told us we could have it when I was, like, six weeks pregnant and the brother said, "I've got some time off coming up soon... I'll get it out of storage for you."
Well. Haven't heard anything since. I'm trying not to be psycho about this because I know I have almost two months before baby arrives but what if he comes early?
We are having our big family shower this weekend and DH thinks things will just "come together" at that point.
We have no problem paying for a new crib and could go buy one today but this one is really nice and if it's free... why would we do that?
I'm stuck.
Anyone else not have your crib yet?
Re: Any Other 33+ Weekers Not Have Their Crib Yet? :(
You are way better than I am with your patience, lol. I remember when we were talking about this 2 weeks ago. I hope they get in gear soon so it doesn't drive you completely nuts. Got my fingers crossed you have a crib this weekend
No crib here, and we probably won't get one until the baby is here. ?Our guest room will become the baby's room and I want to keep it set up as a guest room while my mom will be here helping after the birth. ?No hurry.
If you are having the baby in your room for awhile, there's really no rush. ?We had DS in our room in the PNP and I highly recommend that setup. ?Makes the many middle of the night feedings and changings a whole lot handier, plus, DH and I both felt like it was really special to bond with him right beside our bed, snuggle during feedings, etc.?

I have not even chosen a crib yet. I plan to do some crib shopping this weekend - and it may not be set up until after my shower (at 36 weeks). I hope I am able to find one and at least purchase it this weekend - but, again, I am not setting it up yet.
Wait until after the shower this weekend and see what happens.
We DID have one - but now it's all disassembled & ready to go be exchanged (due to the HUGE crib recall recently on drop - down cribs).
So - no crib. And we're delivering in 34 days.
Yeah, "get psycho" on someone who is kindly offering you baby gear. ?
::eye roll::?

Oh lord... don't take everything so seriously.
We just ordered ours on Sunday from BRU - it should be delivered to the store in 7-14 business days.
I would ask one more time - but be more direct "Hey, is it okay if we stop by this weekend to pick up the crib? We want to start setting our stuff up after the shower is over."
If you trust that they will indeed get it to you at some point, then I guess be patient - and make sure you have a PNP or a bassinet that you could use if LO comes before you get the crib.
If you don't think they ever plan on getting it to you - then start looking to buy one.
I know that they intend to give it to us but I just hate to ask for it again because I don't want them to think I think I'm entitled to it or something.
We do plan on having little one sleep in the pack and play but I just feel like I can't get the rest of his room set up until the crib is there.
I know that sounds nuts.
We have a crib, but DS still sleeps in it. Oops.
He finally started SSTN at age 2 so no way am I messing with it! The new baby can sleep in the Cosleeper.
This.
That stinks. I would just ask them again and say that you appreciate their offer and just wanted to make sure it's still available, otherwise you guys need to look into getting another crib. Hopefully your DH is right and maybe they'll bring it to the shower this weekend.
don't worry
i am 31 weeks and my husband is in the process of making our crib...with no end in sight! no, he is not a carpenter, and no he has never done anything like this before, but he can do it. It just takes time. I was a little freaked out a few weeks ago but i let it go. who knows, tomorrow i may feel different

I'm not 33 weeks + but we don't have a crib yet and I haven't even looked into getting one! We are planning on LO sleeping in the PnP bassinet for awhile in our room. We are moving at the end of Feb (bad timing) so we aren't going to get a crib until after we move so we can set it up after we are settled in.
