3rd Trimester

Less then 20 days and weird FIL story

There is officially less then 20 days til my EDD...wooohoooo!!  It just feels like a big milestone kinda like the less then 100, 50, 35 days type thing.  Maybe I should celebrate by packing my hospital bag?!?!?

On another note- DH and I went to the ILs last night for supper and MIL asked if there was anything we still needed for baby- I figured this was her way of asking what she could still get us since she hasn't really gotten us anything "big" for baby.  I say well we still haven't gotten our changing table or a dresser for baby which would be really useful since baby is sleeping in our room and I don't really want to have to put baby on the bed in the middle of the night to change a diaper while DH is trying to sleep.  Anyway FIL asks us if we want a kitchen table to put in our room to change the baby on??  WTF- who changes their baby on a kitchen table and who has a damn kitchen table in their room or has the extra space for one- sometimes my FIL is loopy!!   What a weirdo!

  • OMG Kitchen table?????

  • My mom asks stuff like that all the time, lol

"Well, could you use this instead?" (Insert random non-related object here)

    Um, no. I could not.

    Um, no. I could not.

Haha, my mom does that too. And it's always some thing completely different from what I actually need.

  • I was told that kitchen tables are the best for changing tables!! Especially in cramped bedrooms!!
  • He might send over some kitchen thongs (to hold diaper) and a nice place mat. It may work...Stick out tongue
  • thats kinda interesting not going to lie. . . sometimes mens thinking process is different than ours.. :S

  • LOL!  Men just don't understand!  Hopefully your MIL set him straight after you left.  Congrats on only 20 days to go, I would definitely get to packing that hospital bag!

  • Sometimes I love men so much for their delusional frugality.

I have a great uncle who had evidently bought a box of tampons to help with a plumbing leak. I only found this out when I got home to find a half box of tampons on the table and the message that he gave them to my grandfather who made the 50 mile trip to visit, to bring them back to give to my mother to see if "the girls" (my sister and I) could use them. The fact that not one of the parties involved who passed it on was embarrassed by the item or unfazed by how frugal that 50 mile multi-city multi-person trek for a $2 box of tampons still intrigues me.

As my dad said at the time, what has to happen in your mind to offer that.... "maaaa? Do we know anyone with a vagina??? Didn't my brother's kids have daughters? Would they be menstruating?? Maybe they can use these?"

Men, and older generations are tragically frugal.

  • I used my dryer as a changing table when I was downstairs. I put a folded blanket on top and changed DD there. It was also the easiest way since we used CD and then I could just throw them into the washing machine.
