I of course think my child is beautiful--with that out of the way, I have seen kids at the daycare, that are were not so attractive when they were younger, but than they grew into themselves and were so adorable.
All nestie/bump babies are beautiful--it's the other people's babies that may not measure up:) And we do have some friends that we think--uggh--not so cute, but glad we have our children:)
Yeah...I have seen some not-so-cute babies and their parents think they are the most beautiful that God has ever put on this earth. And I can't help but think, "uh...are you seeing what I'm seeing???" But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
yeah now that I've been out and about I've seen some funny looking kids. and I'll be honest, I don't think ALL nestie babies are beautiful. GASP!
those are fighting words heather!
i 100% believe people know when they don't have a cute baby. how could you not? you may think your baby is beautiful to you but you have to realize it isn't cute in the true definition of the word.
dh and i talk about this ALL the time. how sad are we?

I just fully read the post about "Moments"-- I will say that we have pictures of Aerin where she is not so cute--mainly it's because she turns her nose up like a snob (similar to her mother and cousins)..those pics--not cute at all.
Heather--remember how I was worried about how Aerin would look because of her ultrasound picture--it was the nose being turned up:)
hahaha yes i remember you worried about her nose! lmao! I totally thought that Riley was funny looking when he was born and everyone always gasped when I said so.
yeah now that I've been out and about I've seen some funny looking kids. and I'll be honest, I don't think ALL nestie babies are beautiful. GASP!

Andrea, my hubs and I talk about this all the time too. He thinks our friends' second kids are not cute and worries our second kid won't be cute. I told him that we of course would think it was cute, but everyone else would know better. But the liklihood is that it would be cute.
Heather, I am daring you to take it one step further and NAME the kids you don't think are cute. Bwah ha ha ha ha!
Ok. I think Jackson is GAP ad cute now... BUT, when he was born and tiny like an old man. He was precious but, funny looking. He wasn't that fat chubby cuddle baby. He was skin and bones. Granted he was premie and honestly at the time I was the most adoring blessed mommy that he was even alive. So I will say looking back he had some funny looking moments but, has now made up for them because he is SUPER CUTE now.
Does this make me a bad mommy? lol
PIP evidence ...
Then, a little funny looking. I used to call him Mr. Magoo
I think my little girl is a cutie pie Everyone says she looks just like DH which makes me worry about HIM haha..because his features make a good looking girl!
I've seen some not so good looking babies in my travels too..heck I see not so good looking adults all the time..maybe they started as not so good looking babies

I worry our second baby won't be cute either. But then again maybe we are delusional and our first isn't cute and we just think he is
There is definitely one baby in particular that I see (on the nest/bump in general) who I think is so, so unattractive. Really bad. And then I feel bad for thinking it. But not bad enough not to show both my mom and dh to see what they thought. They agreed.

When Avery was born, she was very sick and in the NICU. She had oxygen from the moment she was born, so they had the tube taped to her face over her ears. I remember when they took the tube off her ears were folded down. I even said to Colin....oh god please let her ears straighten up. She was also really swollen with a needle in her head, so yes, I was very concerned about second child syndrome!
It's so funny you posted this. When Emma was a baby strangers, literally every where I took her, would stop me and tell me that she was the most beautiful child they had ever seen. Not kidding. She was pretty, petite, bright blue eyes, clear skin, good baby hair, etc. Baby Tess on the other hand, everyone just says "Ohhhhhhhhh she looks just like her Daddy." LOL Bless her heart, but she's not ugly, right?!?
This ost is funny! My son is sooo cute! And I was suprised at how cute he was as an infant. I was so looking for that ugly newborn to come out. I just pray that baby girl is blessed the same way big brother has been.
I of course and dying to know who you are talking about!!! HA!! You will never hear me say my children are u-g-l-y you ain't got no alibi your ugly!!! They are all three beautiful!! Ha I am not sure everyone feels that way, but I do!
i think joseph may be funny looking, but i can't be sure - i think he is cute! but people comment on "how expressive" he is which i think is code for funny looking.
i get lots of unsolicited "adorable" comments on the nest/bump though so i don't know what to think! haha! it doesn't really matter in the end. he is who he is.

This is a funny post and the first thing I thought of was that Seinfeld episode with the baby. When I or DH have made silent (ok not to silent) comments about a not so cute baby, I tell myself, wait karma can come back! So I try not to say it out loud, just think it. I justify by the words didn't really come out of my mouth
LOL, this post is hilarious. And Heather, cmon, name some names-that would totally get us on the 'Hot Topics'
I think my kids are way cute. Colin always has been and people stop us all the time and say how cute he is. Hayden was a skinny little thing and looked like an old man as a newborn, but now he's plumped up and is so cute I just want to squeeze him all the time. Of course, I'm biased
yes, there are ugly babies, but Caroline is not and has never been one of them. I remember when she was born thinking that she didn't look like an old man like most newborns do. But then one of my sisters told me not too long ago that she is much cuter than she seemed like she'd be as a newborn, lol. Looking back she did look like an old man newborn.
And honestly, I think personality has a lot to do with it. Caroline has always been very happy and friendly, and I think it adds to her (already ridiculous) cuteness. On the other hand, babies who are generally crabby and/or unhappy and whiney don't seem as cute.

Honestly, I think love is blind. I really honestly do think all parents think their babies are beautiful.
I say this lovingly because I've seen some babies...that are really not beautiful...but seriously the parents think they are. Case in point,
Yes, ladies...those are 2 pics of my beautiful DD. I look back and know I must have been blinded by love. I seriously thought she was breathtaking and stunningly beautiful right from the start. HELLO!?!?!?
I will say that I totally know both of my kiddos are dolls now but I also knew when they were born they were not soo cute to say the least. I have a friend that has a not so attractive baby and yes I am a bioch because shes fug i think. ok there i said it im going to hell. lol
but if some nesties were to chime in and say my kiddos were not cute then i might have to question myself. :P
OMG, this post gets from me! Y'all are cracking me up! Of course Gavin is the most adorable toddler on this earth, but there was a time last summer when his hair was falling out in patches and well... he just looked odd. I mean, can you say combover???
I always said at that point that he looked like a little old man with a bad toupee... and I also have seen some scary looking babies at daycare that turned into the most adorable toddlers and I just can't believe it!
When Geneva was born, all the nurses kept telling us how beautiful she was and "she's just perfect." I was musing about whether they just said that to everyone and if our kid was actually funny looking and odd. Rob came out with some line from a Jamie Foxx stand-up routine where Foxx said something to the effect that not all kids are cute. Some babies look like chewed up Milk Duds.
I had to call a nurse for more pain pills. I nearly split my staples laughing.

This is a great post! My dh and I have talked about ugly babies, etc., for a while and both of us agreed that we didn't think that Ethan was the cutest especially those first couple of months. I remember telling my mom I didn't think he was the most attractive baby and she got very offended with my statement. I think Ethan started getting really cute when he was around 5 months old, and I definitely think he's a cute toddler. Now, once Jack got out of that newborn phase, I thought he was a beautiful baby. I just love Jack's chubby cheeks. I think they make him look cute.
i think joseph may be funny looking, but i can't be sure - i think he is cute! but people comment on "how expressive" he is which i think is code for funny looking.
I had to LOL at this one - too funny!

Totally laughing at this post. I have to say not all babies are cute. I always tell DH that it's ok if our kids are not the cutest or smartest when they are lil as long as they make up for it when it actually counts --- when they are adults. We have a family friend who's daughter was soo ugly as a kid but now that she's in college, she's drop dead gorgeous and I think that's helping her more.LOL!
I thought DS was a really cute newborn and now he's interesting looking. Of course I think he's cute because he has the greatest personality. Other teachers, besides his own, stop me to comment on what a sweet child he is and how they often stop by to visit him.
I remember thinking some of his classmates were really not cute, but then I got to know them. Their personalities really showed through and I started to think they were cute. However, there are a couple kids I know who fit the definition of "ideal cute" (big blue eyes and chubby) but they have no spark in their eyes and/or they don't smile, and I don't find them cute at all.

My niece and nephews....not so cute, but much cuter as they grow/grew. My newest niece looked emaciated for a little while until she reached about 7 lbs...her eyes stuck out of her head....

Oh, and of course I think my baby is adorable...but I will say that prior to her being born, I was petrified that she would be ugly.
