update to my leaky water heater

Soo...yes.  We have to get a new water heater.  And of course, DH can't just "replace the water heater", no, he's taking this opportunity to move it to the other side of the wall (from the laundry room to the garage).  I'm excited that we're getting a new water heater, not so excited that DH thinks we can "just cover the floor with a piece of plywood until we redo the kitchen and laundry room in like 5 years".

PS, My Christmas shopping is officially done now.  Merry Christmas to me and DH, a water heater it is!  Smile

  • Lol at your hubs. Maybe you'll get to redo the kitchen and laundry room sooner? Good luck with it all!

  • oooh that sounds like something my DH would do. Our water heater is leaking too...fun fun!
  • We just got a new water heater last week- it decided to finally crap out on us (it had been leaking a little and the pilot kept going out) during a week when DH was out of town for work.

I keep telling him we should just bite the bullet and do it.  He will build the cabinets, he works for a granite countertop company...the biggest expense will be the demolition and renovation we'll have to do.  Ah well, I'm just glad to have hot water.  Do you know how many things we do with hot water!?  Ha!

  • water heater replacement isn't too bad, we had to replace ours last year after it rusted through. The worst part was trying to get it out of the house, it was rusted so bad it was literally breaking into pieces as it was being carried.
  • You know, you might be able to get a pretty good deal on the renovation seeing as how construction is still down.  Try that on your DH and see if he bites.  Smile  Good luck!

Yes! My hot water and stove are gas. I totally forgot to check our gas tank once and it completely ran out. No hot water, no stove. For a day and a half. Sucked monkey butt.

Haha, you must know my DH pretty well...he is a total penny pincher.  I don't think he has every paid full price for anything in his entire life.  It's a good trait to have, but sometimes a bit frustrating when he just wants to "wait it out"

Oh no!  I would have cried, haha.

Ours isn't even that old...old enough to no longer be under warranty but not rusted out.  And I was surprised that they weren't more expensive...I was expecting thousands of dollars, but really there were much more affordable.
