1st Trimester

Fetal Doppler HB Counting

I just got my AngelSounds fetal doppler in the mail. WOOHOO! Been waiting for it since Saturday. And I found the heartbeat after like 2 minutes. :)

Anyway...it was cheap, only like $35, so it doesn't have a feature to measure the bpm. I used a stopwatch to count, but according to that, it was only 100bpm. Now, once again, I know this was cheap, so maybe it's not super accurate, but has anyone come across this? Could I be counting wrong, or what?

Re: Fetal Doppler HB Counting

  • Well I just talked to a nurse from my OBs office and she said that it's probably not picking up all the beats since it's so early. She said even their expensive dopplers have a hard time reading heart beats and heart rates this early. Phew.

  • Hope it picks something up soon.  How much did you spend on it?  Just curious.  I ahve been thinking about getting one some time soon.
  • Never mind.  Sorry.
  • Are you sure you were not listening to my own heartbeat? My doctor also said 11 weeks was too early. I have seen my LO's heartbeat 3X but not heard it yet. Hopefully at the next appointment. I also have a home doppler but nothing yet but I have not tried it yet this week. Apprently you should be able to hear on a home unit after the second trimester starts.
