red spotting at 5 weeks?

in 1st Trimester

everything i've read about implantation bleeding suggests that it is discharge tinged with brown or pinkish blood.  i haven't had anything like that.

today, however, there was a little blood on my toilet paper and a tiny amount in the toilet bowl after urinating.  do you guys think that i might have miscarried?  i'm panicking a little bit and my ob/gyn's office is closed.  any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    It's probably nothing but I'd call your doctor in the morning just to be safe.  Good luck!

    Do you have any pain or cramping? If so, or if the blood gets heavier you should call the on call Dr. right away.  Otherwise, it's probably ok to wait until the morning, but since you're so early if you are concerned I would go ahead and call them now since it's not too late.  They don't mind and want to put you at ease.  They might tell you to call first thing in the morning and set up and u/s.  For now the best thing to do is take it easy and keep an eye on things.  GL!

    I had red spotting at about 5 wks and then an u/s at 6 wks. Everything looked good!

    When I called the on-call doc, he asked me if I had pain and if I was passing any tissue. I wasn't so he said it was likely ok, but that I could go to the ER if I liked. Since I had the u/s scheduled for a week later, I waited to see how things went.

    They may or may not see the fetal pole this early, but they can look for signs of an active bleed.
