Well, after 5 (yes, 5) needle sticks (3 nurses, 4 sites), they got enough blood for a beta, progesterone, and blood type. I met with the midwife, George, who was nice, down-to-earth, and actually kind of humorous. He helped with some of my fears, and recalculated (which I already did) my due date based on ovulation, not LMP. My next beta is Thursday. I called this afternoon for the first number, but it wasn't ready yet. The nurse said to call after 9 a.m. tomorrow.
I'm staying as calm as possible...just praying for good news. George did tell me that my chart looked great (that made me feel good) and he asked where I got the software. (It's TCYOF software.) He said to stop temping now, and just let the pregnancy progress as it is supposed to for now. We set up my first ultrasound (early dating) at 6 weeks, 2 days (December 29), the Pregnancy Welcome seminar (meet all the providers, get some perks, and generalized info), and my 1st OB appointment at 8 weeks, 4 days.
DH hid my thermometers, both of them, while I was driving home from work.
I just want to say THANK YOU in a huge heartfelt way for all of your love & support. I will be cheering all of you on as you move forward in your TTCAL journey, and hope to see you soon on PgAL. I'll probably move more over there, as that's where I belong now, but I'll pop on and off of this board to see how you all are doing occasionally. Also, if you have pet questions, feel free to page me over on PgAL and/or send me a PM. I'm still happy to help whenever I can under the same disclaimer as always. Huge (((hugs))) to all of you!! Please keep sending good thoughts for great beta numbers after Thursday!
Re: Update on me (warning: due date siggy pic)
Glad everything looks great so far. Keep us posted on things and make sure you save us all seats on PgAL!
Oh, i am so happy for you, hun. This has to be your sticky baby!!!!
BEYOND happy for you!
Congrats
Seriously praying that you get fantastic, doubling betas by the time of your next draw! I like that your midwife told you to stop temping - that can only be helpful and keep your stress levels down.
Congrats again!

haha... midhusband. Yes, it sure is weird calling him a midwife. But he's been doing it for almost 30 years, and apparently is VERY good. I've heard from a friend at work that he makes it his job to make you (the mama to be) feel as little stress as possible throughout the pregnancy. He's realistic, though, at the same time. Gives it to you straight, but with reassurance, is how my friend put it.
Yeppers... 8/22....just like we thought based on ovulation. He said that my early dating ultrasound at 6w2d will be more telling, but he thinks that's going to be on-track.
I'm SO EXCITED FOR YOU, too!!!!! This is awesome. And I credit my dollar store testing last Friday afternoon to you, dear. You totally made me want to do it, and it was the best thing I could have done.
When are you going to the doctor?
Um. Mid-January?
Okay, look, I know, I know, I should probably call my doctor. But I haven't. I did call the study people - I'll go in thursday for betas with them (though they don't tell me the numbers) and then they'll schedule an early u/s at 6w5d-ish (Jan 1!!!)
I'll call my doc's office after that and schedule a first appointment. Or maybe before, I don't know. Right now I'm not thinking about it until after Christmas.
