I have an u/s and first appointment with my OB's midwife scheduled at 8 1/2 weeks (Dec. 30th). Could you ladies tell me what to expect?
I have heard there's a lot of questions about family medical histories also. What sort of things should I know?
I was hoping to wait until after the u/s to tell our families, but if there's important stuff I need to know from them, we may just spill the beans on Christmas.
Thanks ladies!
Re: What should I expect at 1st appt. & u/s?
This
Mine was different because my first OB appt was at 10 weeks. But they ask you a bunch of health questions. They want to know primarily about your family compared to your husband's. (i.e. If anyone in your family had blood pressure- which side of your family was it on, etc)
You have to pee in a cup (at EVERY appointment) and they took about 5 vials of blood. If you haven't had a chlamydia test within a year they will do that (internally) and they'll do an HIV test. They did mine right before I got pregnant at the RE's office and re-did it at my first OB appointment. It's just more blood work.
(btw- your christmas card is in the mail)
That's right. Can't forget the weight and BMI check.
