Highlights?

Hi,

I have a hair appt on Saturday for a partial foil highlight.  I highlight my hair every 6 weeks.  I'll be 7 wks 1 day at my appt.  Do you think it's OK to highlight my hair or should I cancel the appt?  I have roots and if I wait another 6 weeks I'll have SERIOUS roots, but obvs if it's not OK for the baby, I'll wait.  What do you think?

    My OB said it was fine--especially because with a foil the dye doesn't even touch your head. She does recommend semi-permanent for all over color during at least the first tri, but I only do highlights and lowlights.

    It will be fine. I had it foiled during pg. Plus the only warnings are for getting an all over color and even that should be fine.

    Everyone I talk to about it say to wait till 2nd trimester! So that's what i'm doing even tho it's killing me..cause I haven't had my hair done since September..but I don't want to harm my baby.. but call your doctor and ask them they will tell u what you should do

    As long as you're not drinking the hair dye, you're gravy.

    I'm a hairstylist and it's perfectly fine. With the foils the product doesn't even touch your scalp. If your sensitive to smells, the scent may bother you but other than your fine.  I just got mine done a few weeks ago.

    My doc doesn't say yes or no he says it's up to us b-c there isn't tons of research on it. I am getting mine done Satruday also but I help off to 11  weeks. I am techniqually still in the 1st tri but I think if your are just getting it foiled you are fine.

    True! I got mine done on Saturday (I'm 8 weeks today) and felt a bit queasy from the smell even though it's a big open room. Any smell bugs me. Just let them know you're feeling a bit queasy in case you need to make a bee line for the restroom.

    I have a friend who's a stylist and worked in the salon throughout her entire pregnancy. And she was super in tune with what her baby needed, it wasn't like she didn't care. Her doctor told her it would be fine, and she has a healthy 1 year old now!

    I am the head of PR for a hair color company.... it's fine. I get mine done about every 4 weeks. (that because it's free for me!)
