I haven't been on much lately, so I'm scanning for highlights... but 3 pages back (still posts from earlier today) mentioned something about FFFC drama re: pregnancy posts. Fill me in?
Some people were a little upset over all the recent PG related posts for various personal reasons and were complaining that this board was becoming 4th tri.

upset? like they think preggos should take their pg posts to the tri boards? don't they realize the tri boards can be like nails on a chalk board the second time around?
Some people were a little upset over all the recent PG related posts for various personal reasons and were complaining that this board was becoming 4th tri.
Oh dear God. Are they kidding me? I mean, star's "my legs got red in the bath is my baby boiled" post was a little ridiculous but is this really going to turn into BOTB the sequel? Where people have to put random unassuming tickers in their siggy instead of saying "im pregnant!" And where people can't complain about their toddlers because someone had a difficult time?
If you can't handle pregnancy related posts, THE BUMP may not be the place for you.
I remember 2 separate threads on BOTB about whether or not a ticker should contain a baby image or something less offensive to the non preggos (oops, I said preggo!) like a guitar or a hair brush.

No one really recognized their crazy.
Ha ha... that made me think about giving birth to a guitar. And a hairbrush. Ouch!
it pretty much got everyone's opinion voiced but nothing was resolved... except the mama that caught DS brushing the dog's teeth with DH's toothbrush and she just put it back and giggled after stating that she got the "skeeves" from it. She was flamed a touch.
I went back and read it. Wow. That is some ridiculous.
"I'd just like it to get back to toddler discussion."
What the 9 gazillion posts about toddler behaviour and toys and illness aren't enough for you?
Hysterical. I think some people take themselves far too seriously. And I am one of those without a fetus and who is not interested in having another fetus wtihin me for awhile.
I enjoy the pregnancy posts and pregnancy updates. Call me crazy. But, it is not all about me.

I basically made the points lanie did: if you can't handle pregnancy posts, perhaps you shouldn't be on the bump, and while I don't love every ridiculous topic around here, I am not the center of the universe. Therefore, I don't get to decide who can post what!

Cali: there were lots of them in the FFFC last week, and like 4 spinoff threads, it was a decent amount of people
And, you know, none of them were, you know, "saying" that they "didn't" like pregnant people, or that pregnant people were smug attention whores who deserved to be hauled into a new board/room together to stew in their own smugness, but you know, they were just "suggesting" that people "might" "maybe" want to, you know, go somewhere like a tri board so that they didn't offend the unpregnant. You know.
I feel like I now want to post 900 things about getting pregnant, and labour and delivery. Oh and a lot of "do you think this is the baby moving? or gas?" posts.
I was pi$$ed about it and I'm not even pregnant. Until that post, I didn't really even notice pregnancy posts all that much. Of course, today it seemed like no one posted anything pregnancy-related.
Um, well, there was that one....where is that pot? I have a kettle over here that I think it should meet.

you and your bump and sierra are adorable! love those siggies. but maybe i should page you on 3rd tri to tell you that?
I'm taking a bit of offense at the pink wrapped infant in your ticker. Would you mind changing that to an alligator so your pregnancy ticker isn't all "PREGNANT IN YOUR FAAAAACE!"? Thanks.

I am so incredibly offended by pregnant women. So offended. How dare they post on this board. It's not like they have toddlers... Oh wait. They do. Hm. Well, we only went through our first pregnancies together. Why should they post on a board about their second one with the people that they are comfortable with? HM? HM?
People are just so entitled. You know? God, you selfish, selfish preggos, taking up space where there COULD BE another post about sippy cups. Sippy cups are way more important than your uterus.
Just to break the ice over this whole thing I believe I will put PR in front of everything from posts about burp smells, to lampshades, and christmas lights.
Whoa, stop being so sensitive. No one is saying "ew pregnant women are fat." We just find you, sloppy, hairy, ugly and ... well, unfortunate looking. We non pregos are just happy not to be you.
Heck yes we are. Down with the preggers!!! If we insult them enough maybe they'll go back to the tris where they belong! Do not pass go, do not collect $200!!
On the "Bump", no talk of bumps is allowed. We can talk about humps, our humps, our humps, our lovely lady lumps but no bumps.
All siggy pics should be altered to include lamps or big handbags in front of your bump like they do on tv shows - when they don't want to write a pregnancy into a show.
i've tried to make friends on the tri boards but they have rules over there too. over there, i'm not relevant till i'm an "elder." over here, i'm irrelevant because i'm incubating. i don't fit in anywhere! wahhhhh....
Oh so many things come back to me whenever I laugh at the "pregnancy- is it ok to be it" debates. Remember the feedback board where hippy pleaded for them to change the name of the board for those who had babies but couldn't become pregnant again? And others who asked for all advertising of baby related items to be taken from their board out of respect?
know what's always free freaks? "create your own forum" those generally just advertise adult sites or annoying fat loss avatars!
I just got caught up on this business... it's kind of ridiculous.
I can kind of understand if you're suffering from a loss... but honestly, if I was, I would just stick to the loss boards for a while (of course, that's just a personal choice I would make).
It's kind of sad for me to see the pregnant ladies and new babies because I would love to TTC again, but we just don't have the means.
However, I would feel that way anyway, and it's not that big of a deal. I just ignore the pg posts if I'm feeling especially bitter about not going for #2 yet.
Anyway, my point is that when this many women are pg on the board, they shouldn't have to tiptoe around everyone else.
I made a post recently after some 3rd tri drama that I completely understood why no one would want to go back there... and I stand by that.
Okay, I was one of the "anti-preggos" in the FFFC post, but honestly it doesn't bother me that much. I'm not pregnant, nor do I intend on being pregnant for a while, so a lot of the pregnancy posts just don't interest me. Therefore, I'm not here as much. I don't think I said that there should be warnings or yet another board for the pregnants to flock to. I guess I was just being devil's advocate or something.
I think the whole thing got blown out of proportion.

Ah, lanie...there you go again showing your lack of comprehension- or is it poor short term memory skills. LOL
And, granted, I didn't read all the FFFCs, but the ones I read were more people expressing their hurt about recently losing a child or having trouble TTC- I didn't read any where people were outright hating on the pregnant women. And, the confessions began with people talking about how much they hate being pregnant and what an awful time it is for them- which they have EVERY right to feel that way and complain about it on here, but those who feel the sting of a BFN month after month, or those who see tickers of babies that were due around the ones they should be having but lost..those people deserve the right to complain and express their feelings too.
If there was anyone who was ugly about us posting on here, that's different, but again, that's not what I read.

::eyeroll:: you know what you wrote and admitted it was stupid. Get over it.
And that FFFC was a clusterfvck of people basically saying the same thing over and over about pregnant women. You said it yourself, everyone has the right to post here, about whatever they need to, to get through a pregnancy, or loss, or grief or tantrum. Whatever they want/need.
but, we're back to BOTB again and the 'rules' of posting and its absurd. As Tess stated, I lost my Dad this year. Do I flip at every person complaining about their parents and suggesting they get some perspective and show some sensitivity? no. Because I'm not an ass and I have perspective.
Craaaazy.
The board was obviously divided and has been slow since and people are obviously afraid to post about their pregnancy. So think about that the next time you think you boiled your fetus.

Poor lanie. All up in arms over nothing. I do recall thinking it was silly, yes. But I'm pretty sure I said something along the lines of "I know it's fine..but could someone just tell me that it's fine." Boiling the baby certainly wasn't a concern I had, but if that's how you read it, that's cool. You often misunderstand people, so it's no suprise.
I do agree that there shouldn't be "rules" about what to post here, which is why I still post pregnancy stuff. I won't go around crucifiying people who expressed their hurt though.
You don't need to start your own board, there is one they made when this all came up before...2 under 2 and the people from that board came over here and welcomed all of the expecting moms even if the kids won't be under 2 and their 100 posts about which double stroller to buy.

Ha! I thought about that- they should rename that board "double strollers" and the "attachment parenting" board "which baby carrier".

I'll be sure to ask a toddler related question with EVERY single post just to offset my signature. You know, be all super-sleuth like. N'stuff.
(psst Cali, thank you
I'm still anxiously awaiting your arrival btw!)
