We are taking DH's grandparents car on our 12 hour car ride to be w/ my family for the holiday's. Their car is a lot bigger than ours so DD's carseat will be able to fit in the middle if we want, that isn't an option w/ our current car. DH is making the switch tomorrow.
I've never had to think about it before so I'm just wondering, is the middle safer than behind the driver or passenger? I'm assuming so but just want to check what others w/ the option have done. Thanks:)

She's right. The middle is the safest place for them.
Not always. ?It depends on the particular vehicle. ?DH's car specifically says NOT to place a child seat in the center.
Check with the manual of the car you'll be installing the seat in, it will tell you what position is best. ?If all 3 seats are options, fyi, we were told by the police who did our inspection that the sides using LATCH are statistically just as safe as the middle without LATCH available. ?I have read that of the two sides, the drivers' side is safer.?
(read it. you know you want to.)
