Trying to Get Pregnant

provera to induce AF

I've only had one AF since stopping BCP in August, and my doctor gave me a prescription for Provera/Progesterone.  I started taking it last Wednesday.  Can some of you share experiences with this?  Once you were done, did your cycles go back to normal?

Also, what type of side effects did you experience?  I'm very bloated (although I was before taking it, happened last time I stopped BCP also), I've had a few dizzy spells and some diarrhea (sorry, tmi). I'm supposed to get AF on Saturday or Sunday, and then have bloodwork done a few days later.

Re: provera to induce AF

  • I have done provera twice (and it's starting to look like this cycle will end with that as well). The only major side effects I have had are bloating and being ridiculously hungry! My cycles have not gone back to "normal" but I suppose that could happen...GL to you!

  • I average 3 days after the last pill to start bleeding, but it can take up to 14 days after the last one, so don't worry if you don't start right away.

  • I have done provera twice (15 days each time) and never had any SE. I usually get AF 5 days after the last provera pill. Good luck!
  • My cycles never went back to normal.  Provera doesn't make that happen, it just causes withdrawal bleeding.

I've taken it several times since I went off BCP.  I don't love it, I think I had limited side effects.  Moodiness, exhaustion, and an odd greasiness of my skin and hair.

    Good luck!
