Recommend your baby monitor

Have you purchased a baby monitor yet? What kind did you go with and what features did it have??

I was looking at them and the choices are a bit overwhelming. Some have those motion sensor pads, some have video, and some are just more basic. What did you pick and why?

Thanks :)?

Re: Recommend your baby monitor

  • We registered for two kinds. One is a Sony audio monitor. It's pretty basic but it got great reviews from our friends, and we liked the simplicity of it. We also registered for a Summer Infant video monitor. We just put it together last night and so far we've loved the features it has! You can really view the baby (or for us, it's just the empty crib!) in dark or light conditions, and you can hardly tell the difference. The infared sensor is really good, as is the audio on it. The box warns that there might be interference if you have a cordless home phone, but since we don't, we haven't had any trouble.

  • We have the Sony Babycall monitor, and it has worked well for us.  If I were doing it all over again, though, I would buy a video monitor.

  • We love our Graco Imonitor - it picks up her sounds great, but not the neighbors :)  We didn't see the need for a video monitor.

  • With dd, we used Summer Infant handheld video monitor. We loved it! I will probably by another one for this one (unfortunately, I sold it about a year ago)!
  • We have the lights and sounds monitor. It works for us.

  • Ditto the summer video monitor.  Granted we haven't tried it with an actual baby yet, but it seems to work amazingly well!

  • We registered for the SUmmer Infant Day/Night video monitor.  I had put up a post a few months back asking this same thing & all but 2 or 3 replies said to get this one.  I looked online & it had great reviews there & customer pictures of the product in use.

DH didn't want a video monitor at first but I told him that a lot of people who already have it say it really is better than just audio since you don't have to run to the baby's room if you can't hear them breathing, just look on the monitor.

  • My Summer handheld video monitor is seriously my #1 baby must-have.  I can see DD at all times, and never have to go check on her.  It gives me peace of mind.

  • We're getting the anglecare monitor (monitors movement).  The nice thing is that you can detach the movement pad once the baby is older and rolls off of it and use it like a regular monitor.
