XP: Two new symptoms...

So on Saturday, DH gave me a prenatal massage! It was wonderful.

But when I woke up on Sunday my left leg had a dull ache down the back of it. It disappeared as the day went on but now the ache is back. Is this the start of sciatica?

Also, my right hand is starting to feel really weak. It hurt to flat iron my hair this morning! I am wondering if this is also the start of carpal tunnel? In the early part of my pregnancy I was having tingling and numbness but it went away.

Maybe I am just overreacting! Does or did anyone have experience with either of these?

Re: XP: Two new symptoms...

  • Sounds like you're right on both accounts. The sciatica - don't think there's much you can do, but with the carpal tunnel, my OB suggested I get a wrist brace. I used it mostly at night, since that's when it was the worst. It helped to relieve some of the pressure (caution - you'll be in pain for a while, then your hand will just go numb). Sorry you have to deal with both at the same time. Either one is bad by itself, but both are definitely no fun.

  • Meg, I would call your Dr. just to be sure! Don't want to scare you, but the first thing I thought of when you mentioned your leg was a blood clot and those can travel quickly to other parts of your body....and I think are common while pregnant! I would give your Doc a call and just tell them what's going on.....just for peace of mind!

  • My doc said any leg pain- call...

and the hand issue- is totally what happened to me and I just tried to work through it until i could barely close my hands...I would get a brace from cvs and wear that...I wear one at night because thats when I am in the most pain- but they have some you can wear all day and work...
