Success after IF

Normal to have to change outfits after feeding solids?

I've been feeding the girls by putting them in their Bumbo seats (with trays) and spooning it in from the front.  They end up with food all over their chins, cheeks, hands, and sometimes elsewhere on their faces.  I always have to change their clothes afterwards, too, because they have food on the ends of their sleeves.  (And a bib protects their chests, but only somewhat.  I think I'm going to get some bigger bibs soon.)

Is this typical?  Do I just need to factor in extra time and extra outfits after every feeding, or am I doing it in an unnecessarily messy way?

  • we don't usually have to, just push up sleeves and put on big bib.

  • Early on, definitely!   The first meal we did was dinner so we stripped them down to their diaper beforehand and just gave them a bath afterwards.  They are doing a little better now, but they still wind up with food on their clothes sometimes.

  • In the beginning we just fed them in diapers because it was such an awful mess.  They practically needed a hosing down afterward.  Now I just push back their sleeves and it's fine unless we're eating something really messy.
  • Davez recommened bibs from Ikea, they have long sleeves and a pocket. Best $6 I ever spent on bibs.
