Pregnant after a Loss

Stretch marks

Despite my best efforts with cream every day, I am definitely getting some pretty intense stretch marks (they're purple!  purple!!) on my tummy.  I've been using an Aveeno cream most of the time, with another organic orange blossom and honey occasionally.  I guess I should accept them as a badge of honor...but....I like my nice skin....

Does anyone have a stretch mark cream that works?  I have super pale and sensitive skin.

Re: Stretch marks

  • I've been using Palmer's cocoa butter formula - the bottle says it's specifically for stretch marks. So far so good. I rub on my tummy, thighs, bootie, and bbs.

  • I haven't found one yet. I am super prone to normally with even just a few lbs weight gain and I've been looking for a good one for years with no success.

  • I used Belli oil during my pregnancy and have zero stretch marks. I think it's probably genetic, though, because my mom doesn't have any, either. But Belli oil feels and smells nice :) I've never liked the smell of cocoa butter.

  • I hate to say this, but there is not much you can do... no matter the cream.  I thought I was in the clear w/ DD, but they showed up in the very final weeks with her.

The good news is, they do fade a lot.

    The lotion can't hurt, though!

  • My doctor told me at my last appt. that it is always good to keep your skin moisturized but if you have the stretch mark gene there is really nothing you can do. She also said to drink a lot of water it helps to keep your skins elasticity. Unfortunately no luck with a magic cream Sad

  • I have them - I had them before I got PG so I am doomed.  Nothing really prevents them.  If you're going to get them, you're going to get them.  That said, I still have a shred of hope left and slather up with the Palmer's with cocoa butter lotion daily.

Strivectin is a really good OTC stretch mark reducing cream that you can use after baby is born.   It's super pricey.  Not sure if a dermatologist could prescribe it so you can get it cheaper.  It's over $100 a bottle at Sephora.

  • I used Palmer's faithfully and I never got stretch marks. I'd pick up a bottle of that. It was around 7 or 8 dollars so it's very affordable and it works!

  • I have been using Mustela's 9 months stretch mark cream - it's French and pricey ($38 a tube), but I love it.  I have been using it since about 12 weeks along.  So far no marks, but they say they can come in in the final weeks. Also, they say they are hereditary... my mother never had any, so we'll see if I get them or not.

  • water is the best medicine.  Try drinking more than you could ever imagine drinking.  Add flavor powder to it if you must.  It really helps to make the skin more elastic and supple.
