Yes, I have in the past. It's a pain because we have a community box, but I just leave a note on the outside of the box indicating it's in there. I have given Starbucks gift cards (like $10) and boxes of chocolates.

Doh!!! I guess I should..shouldn't I? At my moms the postman would leave an envelope a week before(totally tacky IMO but printed by USPS)..I wonder if they'll do that here.

My newspaper carrier does this.

No, because he sucks. Hardcore. Some days he doesn't even show up. When he does, he jams all of our building's mail into one mailbox and sometimes just throws it on the porch so he doesn't have to go up the stairs.
My dad's a letter carrier, so I have a soft spot for mail men and women. We usually put a box of chocolates in the mail box for our letter carrier. The only year we didn't is when we lived in the city where my dad works and he let us know that our letter carrier was JW and wouldn't accept gifts for Christmas.

He's a lazy ass. Nope, not getting a gift.
Well I can't say I blame you! Our guy is awesome and when I have a big package, he rings the doorbell and gives me that with the rest of my mail. He does a great job and he is always on time and very neat with our mail.

We don't, but we don't have a "regular" mailman. There are two or three people who share the route.
We ALWAYS give a case of beer or two to the garbage men.
