Help! My kid won't nap anymore

Y'all, I'm at my wit's end. This week has been awful sleep-wise. This morning, I rock LO till drowsy (this is the norm) and put him in his crib. The minute he hits the mattress, eyes pop open and he smiles and kicks his legs and wants to play. For a couple months he's been fine going to nap drowsy-but-awake, but the past week he won't go down at all, asleep, drowsy, or awake. So no morning nap. He sleeps like 10-15 min. in the car, we get home and I nurse him and he's totally falling asleep as he eats. He's tired from no morning nap, but I keep him awake enough to get a full feed. He is asleep eating, rouses but falls back asleep as I swaddle him, and wakes right up the minute he hits the crib mattress. He is exhausted, he was freaking asleep, and he wakes up and wants to play in the crib. I pat his tummy, leave him in his crib and he plays for awhile but has been crying. (I've been gong in to check on him) He will not sleep! In the past when he misses a nap, he'll at least get another nap in during the day, but no such luck. What do I do? Sorry so long, but how can I get my kiddo to sleep?

    DS started this a couple weeks ago.  I have to rock him with him on my lap facing outwards and I have to sing/hum to him.  I used to be able to cradle rock him and put him down drowsy.  Lately I've had to put him down asleep and put him down slowly (then keep my hand on his chest for a few seconds).  I think he just wants to play instead.

    I read that if they get a 10-15 minute car nap then it's enough to keep them awake but they still haven't gotten the benefit of a real nap. So if  you can postpone your errand until the afternoon maybe try that?  We've been having the same sort of problem, and I just try every half hour to put him down and eventually by three hours of being up he'll take a nap!  But then I have to wait to run my errands.  I've also put him down in a playful mood and if he doesn't sound sleepy after 10 minutes I just try again later.
