or significant other?! I know a lot of us are asking, "How do we surprise the family when we tell them?!" Well, how did you tell your guy? I love these stories!

Re: How did you tell your HB...
With my first, I gave him a sweet card about being an amazing husband then I wrote in their about being a wonderful father.
This time, I peed on the stick, walked out of the bathroom and he came and whispered it in my ear! It was sweet!
I took the test early morning and when it popped up "Pregnant" I just started squealing. Which of course woke up my DH and he thought something was wrong.
But had I found out while we were apart I was going to hang a onsie I bought right inside the door he comes in and hang a sign by it, "Congratulations Daddy".

I woke him up at 6:30am (he's NOT a morning person) by turning on the light to show him the VERY FAINT line!
I told him next time I'd be creative!
Me too! Then I made him run out and buy more tests
Then the next day I took a digital and did the same exact thing. It was about 7:30 and he had gotten home from drinking around 3. I figured it was his own fault.
The day before my BFP, I was really excited because I had what I knew to be implantation spotting. I told DH this, and he was like "oh wow that's great" but he didn't really understand or believe that I was pregnant.
The next day I took a HPT, and got a very very faint line. Dh had gone downstairs to get the laundry, and when he came back with the clean clothes, I slipped a note under a pair of jean shorts that said "I'm PREGNANT!
" He was being slow about putting the clean clothes away with me cuz he was distracted by the t.v.... so I finally pulled the note up, and said "what's this?" and held it up. It took him a couple seconds before it registered and we just hugged and kissed. The next day we were leaving for a 2 week trip to see both sides of the family, so it was great cuz we got to tell them all in person.
We were both pretty surprised, because I have PCOS and got pregnant with no meds after only being married for 4 months.
With my ex, we tried for 6 years, including on and off fertility treatments. We feel so blessed!
The first time, I found out the morning of our 1st anniversary. So I bought him the book "The Expectant Father" and put it in a gift bag. Then I took the HPT and wrapped a ribbon around it. I also bought a cake since we threw our cake top away. Anyway, I had him pull on the ribbon and out came the test. He doesn't understand line tests so he thought I wasnt since one was lighter than the other.
This time, DH was on a 10 day camping trip and I only talked to him every few days. I tried to keep it from him but I couldn't wait, so I text him asking him to call me and I told him then. We had agreed that if it didn't work in October we were done; it was medically unsafe for DH. I had bad cramps just before AF was to show so we were sure we were done. It was a huge surprise.
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
It was so not romantic. With both DD and the new pg, it's involved me getting up early in the morning to POAS, then squinting at the stupid thing in the bathroom trying to tell if it actually is a line. Then me waking him up and going, "do you think this is a line?". Then coffee. Then check again. Then "we'll do it again tomorrow and see". Repeat through the coffee step. Then "I guess it was a line yesterday".
Such a let down from gazing into one another's eyes, wonderstruck, whispering, "we're going to have a baby...", as the goosy movies would have had me believe.
I wasn't sure how H would react since we weren't planning and he had us on a very strict 2 year plan with TTC not entering that plan for another 9 months so I didn't want to do anything to cutesy in case he was pissed but on the other hand we knew we wanted to have children at some point so i didn't want to ruin the fun finding out part for him either sooo here is what I did.
At night before we sit down for tv time or whatever DH always gets me a blanket and tucks me and furbaby into our oursized chairs and he always makes a big productionmaking sure we are bothreally tight in and no toes or anything are out. So after I took the test earlier that day I hid the test into the chair cushion and when he tucked us in I said make sure you do it really well tonight because you have 3 of us to tuck in now! He was like excuse me what did you say? My first thought was uh oh then he broke out in a big smile and I cried and he hugged me and was super excited. And then wanted to ask a million ?s about how that could happen lol.
With DD I thought I had the flu or I was dying since we had been trying for one month and I was sure ( due to many health problem) that there was no way I was pregnant already so my BFF made me get a test and DH called right when I walked in the house with it and I told him I was going to POAS and he said ok I'll wait and I told him we were pregnant he told me that it was because he was awesome.
With this baby we were not trying and were pretty sure I was just having issues from hormones still from having DD but I was really late and tired so we tested when he brought a test home after work one night. So romantic I know.
We just moved into our house and this is our first Christmas together. I got our BFP on Sunday. We still didn't have our own stockings yet so I got four cheapos from Walmart. One had his name, one had my name, one had our dog's name, and the fourth had 'Baby' written on it. I also stuffed a bib that says I Love Daddy and an ornament that says "to-be parents 2009''.
We weren't ttc so he was shocked!
A Boy's Room
The month before my BFP I was *convinced* I was pg but then AF arrived way early and I was pissed. Pissed more that I was wrong than anything else. So this month I thought for sure we missed our window and thought there was no way I could be pg. But the day AF was supposed to arrive, she didnt, so with out saying a word I cam home from work and POAS. Sure enough there was a BFP! I was shaking and so excited! I walked down the hallway towards where he was cooking in the kitchen and asked, "Hey... wanna hear something crazy??" And of course he said yes... and I was like "Ummmm... I am pregnant!"
He was so cute... shocked, but cute. He was looking forward to months of trying!
but was glad for the BFP!
We were trying, but due to various circumstances I was totally surprised each time. With time #1, we were about to start our first round of fertility treatments and I was waiting for Day 1 of my cycle. We had gone on a pre-planned trip to Vegas and Day 1 still hadn't arrived so I bought a pregnancy test 2 pack in the drugstore, thinking that one would be wasted but then I'd be able to use the other to test at home when we were doing the treatments. Anyway, he was right there in the hotel room with me when the test came up positive.
This time I was at work and emailing a friend of mine saying how I still hadn't got my period and how I didn't to test b/c then I'd just be bitter when it came up negative. She convinced me to go ahead and test. I did and was shocked by the result. I took a picture of the positive test w/my blackberry and IM'd it to DH. He called me when he got it.
There is similar post further down, but here's mine..
We got pregnant in our first month of "not preventing" and were planning to just see what happens. He knew that I was late, but kept telling me that I was sikeing myself out. I woke up in the morning and just knew that if I hadn't started I just had to be pg. I had a digital in my bathroom, so I went ahead and took it right when I woke up (DH was still asleep). I can't even explain the emotions when it said YES so quickly.
I wanted to wake him up.. but I had a way that I really wanted to tell him so I improvised. He proposed by putting the ring on my cat's colar... so I wanted to tell him with the cat. So I wrote "guess what...we're having a baby" on a small piece of cardstock, put a ribbon through it and tied it around the cat's neck (loosely). The cat would cooperate so I ended up walking into the room with the cat and said "He has something to tell you"
He pretty much new before he even read the card..it was such a great moment. We both cried! LOVE IT!
i walked into the living room holding the test saying "oh my gosh kevin! ohhhhhmygosh! oohhmygosh! it's po--ohmygosh!"
i'd planned on doing something sweet but when i finally got that BFP it all went out the window!!
