Babies: 3 - 6 Months

If you use/used a cosleeper, come in. :)

For DD one, we actually slept on the floor with her for the first month or so because we were scared to have her in our bed, but didn't want her in the crib either...we never wanted to be away from her.

So, I'm thinking of getting a cosleeper for DC2. Do you feel that it's safer than your bed or is it just so they have their own space for when you transition? Also, can you breastfeed while they're laying in the cosleeper. I haven't seen one in person to really get an idea of how big they are.

Any other pros or cons would be appreciated, thanks. :)

  • We use ours as a bassinet because we have a low-profile platform ikea bed, so I can't comment on BF while baby is in it.

But, I do love our co-sleeper! We have the Arm's Reach Mini and it's the perfect size. No complaints whatsoever.

  • We had the Arm's Reach and it didn't end up being that useful for us. You can't really BF in it, so I had to move him over to the bed to feed him, and I would usually fall asleep while he was eating so we ended up just bedsharing. Not sure how big your LO is but I think there is a weight limit so it might not be worth it now.

This is what I was afraid of. Oh, and no, I'd use it for the upcoming baby, not my 1 year old, lol. :)

  • Sorry...didn't look at your ticker! :)

  • I feel that it's much safer than having him directly in our bed.  My original intention of registering for the cosleeper was to use it for transition but we actually use it as a cosleeper instead! lol  I couldn't really BF when he was laying in it.  I tried once but I really had to rig it up.

Con: We have a queen bed and it can get a little bit crammed but I've gotten used to it so now it's not a big deal.  The pros definitely outweight the cons.  It was the only way we could get DS to sleep at first (besides him being in my arms) so I LOVE it.

ETA: I'm talking about the Snuggle Nest cosleeper... not a bassinet that attaches to the side of your bed.  I'm sure one of those would be great though!

  • We used a cosleeper for our DS until he was 4 months and grew out of it. We used the Baby delight snuggle nest and put in between DH and me. My DS wouldn't latch on, so I EP and I cannot comment on the BF while lying on the bed. With snuggle nest, I don't think you can BF, you will have to take your LO out of it and BF.

We have a king size platform bed from west elm and it worked out nicely. I did hear from other reviews that it could be big for queen size bed. We decided to co-sleep because we felt that was the most natural thing for us to do.

Thanks. I think I'll just put the baby in our bed. I had to EP as well- if you need any support/advice feel free to pm me...I know how much of a committment it takes!!
