Graco Snugride vs Graco Safe seat

Hi!

 We registered yesterday at BRU and I have 2 different infant car seats I am torn between.  I read alot of good reviews on the Snugride but I really like the way the safe seat (birkshire) looks.  The safeseat is online only so I really cant look at it and in the Baby Bargains book it was not yet rated.

Anyone have either of these, espically the Graco Safeseat?

    We bought the safe seats this time around because DS #1 is really tall (98th % for height) and outgrew the snugride by 4 months. That left about 2 months before he could sit up in the high chair where we had to hold him whenever we went out to eat. We didn't want to go through that again, so we switched to the safe seats. The plus is that they hold more length/weight. The minus is that they are bulkier and heavier. I wouldn't necessarily choose it over the snugride hoping to carry LOs around in it to the max weight because I think they will be too heavy to carry around by then. But I think it will at least allow us to keep them in the carrier to 6 months.

    We had the snugride with DD and I really liked it. I believe it is a little lighter weight than the safeseat.

    I would never get anything but the Snugride.  The Safeseat and sungride 32 are heavier seats... yeah, they hold a child at a heavier weight- but you will likely not want your child in there that long b/c it is HARD to carry around a baby in those seats when they start to get heavy.... let alone 2.

    We already moved Gibby out of the snugride - when he was 18lbs - because it was hurting my back to lift the seat into the car.  We have Gray in the snugride still b/c it's nice to have at least one in the infant seat and he's so much lighter.  Griffin was out of the snugride by 5 months, too.... not b/c he outgrew it- but b/c it was so hard to carry around a baby + seat weight.

    how they look is in no way as important as how your back feels lifting those things.

    We went with the snugride.  I thought about the snugride 32 but it was heavier and I couldn't imagine carrying two of those!!

    We have the snugride 32.  I'm still able to carry both girls with no problem.  Even when it gets too heavy to carry, I still plan on keeping it in the car and rear facing for as long as possible.

    We got the Safeseats so that they could be in them a little longer.  We really like them.
