TTC After a Loss

Progesterone Suppositories

Since my last CP, the doctor decided to put me on progesterone suppositories starting 10 dpo to help make sure that the reason I'm losing pregnancies is no longer due to a lack of progesterone.  50 mg twice a day.

She said that my period may start later.  My period was due to start today (my typical cycle is no longer than 28 days), but my temps indicate that won't be happening.  My temp went up a bit, not down (you can look at my chart if you wish).  I highly doubt I'm pregnant since I took an HPT yesterday that was a BFN.  If I don't start tomorrow, then I'll take another then to just confirm.

Anyhow, I'm curious about a few things.  For ladies on here who have had to use them, what types of "symptoms/side effects" have you had?  Have you had a delay on AF arriving?  Do you have extra tender boobs and fatigue?  Heck, my veins around my boobs are even more prominent now.  I am chalking it up to the suppositories.

Re: Progesterone Suppositories

  • Prog can delay AF and also raise temps. If you're certain you're not pg then you can stop taking prog. I would check w/ your doc first and see if he wants to do a pg test.

Thanks!  That is what I thought.  My doc said if it doesn't start for another week to test again.  If it is negative then, I am to go off progesterone at that point.
  • My boobs are usually pretty sore when I am on progestrone... They also feel a littler fuller... I usually have horrible skin when I am on progesterone. I pretty much have every sign AF is on her way... without her showing up.  I am on more progesterone than you are though.  I have 100 mg two times a day.  I get a butt shot in the morning, and the suppositories at night, so that might be why I have some extra symptoms.  Since I only take it when I do IVF, I have never had to deal with AF's arrival.

Good luck!! I hope you get a BFP
