We are trying to decide if we want to order our delivery of wood or seal the fireplace this winter. I have read the heat from the fire is very drying to infants and can cause/aggravate respiratory problems. We are leaning towards sealing it off, but curious what others are doing...
Re: Will you use your woodburning fireplace this winter?
We're using ours.
Babies survived for thousands of years with only fire as their source of heat. We've got a humidifier in the bedroom to counter-act the natural dryness of our area.
We plan on using ours... I've never heard of any reason not to.
We're probably not going to use it every night and we won't be putting LO directly in front of it but it's a great source for heat without having to turn the actual heat up!
This. Nolan will survive.
